1776 Performed by Marblehead Little Theatre at Abbot Hall, Marblehead

The Marblehead Little Theatre is excited to announce the cast and crew of its upcoming production of 1776, sponsored by The National Grand Bank. Music by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone. The show is being produced and directed by Bobby Kerrigan. Tickets are already on sale! The production will be held at historic Abbot Hall, 188 Washington Street in Marblehead on April 6-9. Sponsors of the production include North Shore 104.9, Samuel Adams Brewery, and Evviva Cucina. MLT is grateful to Glover’s Marblehead Regiment for their assistance in the production remaining true to the time period.

1776 is a musical based on the events surrounding the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The play dramatizes the efforts of John Adams to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence and for them to sign the Declaration.

The cast includes: Bobby Kerrigan as John Adams; Fred Gallagher as Ben Franklin; Sean Murphy as Thomas Jefferson; Andrew Hankinson as Richard Henry Lee; Thom Smoker as the Courier; Bethany Vahn as Abigail Adams; Janet Pohli as Martha Jefferson; Bruce Whear as Andrew McNair; Jim Robinson as Stephen Hopkins; Tom Ostrowski as Robert R. Livingston; Gary Ames as Josiah Bartlett; Tom Edmonds as Roger Sherman; Ron Amon as Thomas McKean; Paul Smith as Caesar Rodney; Pat Cheney as George Read; Kevin A. Wilson as Charles Thomson; Les Tarmy as John Hancock; Jay Pawlyk as Edward Rutledge; Nat Gorton as Edward Hewes; Nick Economou as Samuel Chase; Bill Brauner as The Rev. John Witherspoon; David Scannell as Lyman Hall; Steve Faria as John Dickinson; Dave Levy as John Wilson; Jim Destefano as Lewis Morris; Will Ricker as the Leather Apron; and Alicia Cohen as the artist.

The production crew includes: Susan Parker as stage manager; Gina Naggar as musical director; Kelly Murphy as choreographer; Laura Dillon as costumer; Joanne Scannell as costume assistant; properties manager is Kellie Kerrigan, set dressing by Leslie McGrath and front of the house help by Stanis Ames.

Ticket prices are $25 and $35. Performances on April 6,7 and 8 will begin promptly at 7:00 PM, while the Sunday matinee on April 9 will begin at 2:00 PM in the auditorium at Abbot Hall, 188 Washington Street in Marblehead.
