The Cantemus Chamber Chorus will present “Annelies,” a choral-orchestral work based on “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newburyport on January 20 at 7:30pm, and at Congregation Shirat Hayam in Swampscott on January 21 at 4pm.

James Whitbourn’s work tells the harrowing story of the Frank family and 4 others hiding from the Nazis in a ’secret annex’ in Amsterdam, told in movements that range from chilling and haunting, to humorous and lyrical. Renowned soprano Lynn Eustis, who sang the role of Anne in the work’s U.S. premiere in 2007, will be joined by guest artists on piano, violin, cello, and clarinet.
