SALEM — All are welcome to partake of Salem’s So Sweet festivities at The House of the Seven Gables on Saturday and Sunday, February 9 and 10. Look for a special ice sculpture, take advantage of a 10 percent discount at the Museum Store and tour the National Historic Landmark site free of charge. And all are welcome to decorate (and devour!) Valentine cookies and make Valentine’s crafts at the Visitor Center on Saturday, February 9.
The House of the Seven Gables has partnered with Ye Olde Pepper Candy Companie, just across the street from the Gables, to bring an ice sculpture to the Derby Street neighborhood. The family-friendly activities are all part of the annual Salem’s So Sweet celebration weekend sponsored by Salem Main Street. The Gables, including its six historic structures, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Be sure to stop by the Gables’ Visitor Center on Saturday, February 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. Visitors of all ages are invited to join in free cookie decorating and Valentine Crafting events. These activities are co-sponsored by Salem Parks, Recreation, and Community Services and local artist Linda Abenne. Those interested in participating are asked to register for the free crafts at www.salemrec.com in order to ensure adequate supplies.
