Allow yourself to be transported to the quaint village of Anatevka, as Voices of Hope presents the timeless Broadway musical, Fiddler on the Roof, which they will perform, in the round, for one night only at the North Shore Music Theater on Saturday, May 7th. This much beloved musical unites people of all ages and cultures through the common challenges of preserving tradition, finding a perfect match, and celebrating life, L’Chiam! Winner of 9 TONY Awards when it debuted in 1964, the story centers on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler On The Roof’s engaging music, dance, and story will leave the audience feeling the connection with family, love, and faith; themes that resonate deeply with this group of local performers who are dedicated to raising funds for cancer research. Proceeds from the performance will be donated to the Henri and Belinda Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies at the Mass General Cancer Center.
