This month, the First Thursday Salon will take place on Tuesday, July 2 from 6-8 p.m. due to Independence Day being on Thursday. The topic is “The Great Marsh.” The Great Marsh is both an inspiration for beauty and a fragile ecosystem. Come hear more about it from the perspectives of Artist Carol Benally and Scientist Peter Phippen. Benally, who nowlives in New Mexico, is returing to her New England roots to teach an plein air paiting workshop of one of her favorite habitats, a source of simplicity and peacefulness. Phippen is a hydrogeologist/coastal scientist. Heis currently the Coordinator of the Eight Towns and the Great Marsh Committee, a division of the MassBays National Estuary Prograpm and the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission. He oversees projects addressing coastal pollution and restoration issues. Event is free and open to the public.
