Globe Docs presents “Dateline – Saigon,” which profiles five Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalists who covered the Vietnam War: The New York Times’s David Halberstam, UPI’s Neil Sheehan and the Associated Press’s Malcolm Browne, Peter Arnett and Horst Faas. The film follows their reporting during the early days of U.S. involvement in Vietnam and their struggle to get the story out.
The film will be followed by a discussion with former Boston Globe foreign correspondent H.D.S. Greenway (who covered Vietnam in the late 1960s); the film’s producer and director Thomas Herman; and moderated by Christopher Lydon, host of WBUR’s Open Source.
Want to support the future of documentary filmmaking in Boston? Please consider making a voluntary donation to the Boston Globe Documentary Film Fund. This fund, a part of the Boston Globe Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), will be used to give an annual award to a documentary filmmaker to continue producing high-quality work that engages and enlightens the public.
