An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Sunday and Saturday, repeating until September 18, 2022
New this season, kids sail for free! (under age 18 when accompanied by a paying adult) Under the leadership of new Executive Director Stuart Siegel, the Schooner Adventure begins sailing in service to the community earlier this season than in previous years. Public Sails commence Memorial Day weekend with two sails daily on most weekends this summer through the third week in September.
Passengers of all ages and backgrounds are invited to help the crew hoist the sails, take a turn at the wheel, learn about her unique dory fishing legacy and restoration, and life onboard.
As one of only two National Historic Landmarks in Gloucester, MA, 95 year old Adventure is considered Gloucester’s flagship and is an icon of the maritime fishing heritage of New England. Built in 1926 in Essex, MA, 122’ Adventure is one of only three original wooden Grand Banks dory fishing schooners still operating today.
In addition to Public Sails, Adventure is available for private charters, corporate outings, and educational programs. Volunteer crew and docents are always needed to help maintain and sail the vessel and share the rich maritime heritage with students and passengers. Consult Adventure’s website booking calendar about her sailing schedule, to purchase tickets, and for sailing FAQ. Join the Adventure and become a member for free and reduced-price sailing tickets. It’s a great way to show support for the only 501(c)3 non-profit vessel on the North Shore! www.schooner-adventure.org
