Join us in celebrating Essex County’s rich collection of homes, buildings, and artifacts from America’s First Period (1625-1725) of European Settlement. The John Ward House (1710) and the Pentucket Burial Ground (1660) are the focal points of the Buttonwoods’ 17th Century Saturday programming. For September’s and October’s events, education volunteer andreenactor Ed Dube will be setup at the John Ward House to teach you about17th Century foodways while demonstrating hearth cooking techniques. Thesmell of woodfire and bubbling porridge, not to mention the ambiance of ahome built in the first years of the 1700s, will transport you back to the early days of colonial life in Haverhill.
