Jefferson Hamer is a songwriter, guitarist, and interpreter of traditional music. Murphy Beds, his acoustic duo with Eamon O’Leary, features harmony vocals backed by intricate guitar and bouzouki accompaniment. The Huffington Post said it succinctly: “The [Murphy Beds] album bears repeated listening from start to finish, with ten beautiful, crystalline songs.” In 2016 he recorded and co-produced the Session American album “Great Shakes” and traveled extensively in the US and Europe as the band’s electric guitarist. His 2013 “Child Ballads” album with Anais Mitchell earned a BBC2 Folk Award and was named one of NPR’s top-ten Folk releases of the year.

Laura Cortese grew up in San Francisco and moved to Boston to study violin at Berklee College of Music. She has made appearances with Band of Horses at Carnegie Hall, Pete Seeger at Newport Folk Festival, and Patterson Hood and Michael Franti for Seeger’s ninetieth birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden. Her vocals and fiddle have been featured prominently on numerous albums including Rose Cousin’s Juno award winning album “We have Made a Spark”, Arc Iris fronted by Jocie Adams (Formerly of the Low Anthem) and on “Wild Flowers” the newest release by Belgium based Bony King.

Son of a Honky Tonk singer from Stamford, Connecticut (unlikely, but true), Ry Cavanaugh has been a central figure in the Cambridge Folk and Rock (roots, if you like) scene for the last 14 years. He produced a live compilation, “One Night in Cambridge,” in 1995 featuring Mary Gauthier, Faith Soloway, and many others. He was a founding member of cult-residency bands Vinal Avenue String Band (with Sean Staples and Kris Delmhorst) and Maybe Baby (with Jennifer Kimball). Also, a reluctant and brief member of the acclaimed Wayfaring Strangers. Currently performs with Session Americana and on his own. His song “Lighthouse Light” has been recorded by Mary Black and Redbird (Kris Delmhorst, Peter Mulvey, Jeff Foucault)
