When the Ocean Meets The Classroom: A science teacher’s experience in the Antarctic
Cara Pekarcik kicks off the series with a story of science, education and adventure! Cara brings a unique perspective and story. A dedication to life-long learning and a passion for ocean science led this teacher on an unforgettable adventure to Antarctica. Join Cara to learn about how current oceanographic research can not only influence scientific findings and conservation efforts, but also enrich her students’ understanding of and appreciation for our blue planet.
This year’s series “Leading Ladies: Defining the Discussion of Maritime Science and History” will tell stories of exploration, science, research, historical preservation, adventure and the working waterfront from the perspective of the women who engage and lead in these issues every day.
