Lowell Kinetic Sculpture Race 2019 Info Session

March 10, 2019 @ 2:00 pm

11 Chestnut Street, Amesbury, Mass. Sunday, March 10th, 2019.  2 pm – 3 pm.  This is a free info session. Teams come from all around the greater Boston Northshore area. Last year a local STEM academy builta sculpture during their two week summer program, two new teams from a Lawrence afterschool program as well as a number of artists and kinetic enthusiasts, one from as far away as California. Michael will provide greathandouts that talk about some of the physics needed and a comprehensive‘How to build a Kinetic Sculpture’ packet. Sculptures can range from simple to quite complex depending on the level of crazy mad-scientist typesinvolved. Simple sculptures typically have two mountain bikes attached toeach other and two kayaks attached to that. More complex sculptures can have many bikes cut apart and pieced back together with a range of floatation type elements. . Teams should have a theme. In the past three years they have had teams with a Pokemon theme, a fish/shark, a lobster, a lottery wheel, a pirate ship, and a whole bunch more. Teams include pilots, pit crew, and minions (other support crew)    Any group, club, school, individual, town or just friends wanting to have a great project, totally fun! Come and join in the conversation! Free parking. Light refreshments! And of course #BarewolfBrewery right across the street for after meeting collaboration/discussions.
