Winter Member Exhibit & Pieces of Eight Fundraiser Exhibit
Dates: November 18, 2017 – December 24, 2017
Opening Reception – Sunday, November 18, 2017 from 2-4 pm
Free and open to all; light refreshments will be served and artists will be available to engage about their work.
The Marblehead Arts Association will feature the work of its Artist Members to kick off the holiday season. Intended to coincide with the holiday decor of the King Hooper Mansion by the five garden clubs of Marblehead, this exhibit is a community tradition. This is an inclusive exhibit, neither juried nor judged, with a diverse offering of paintings, works on paper, mixed media and 3 dimensional. During the run of the exhibit, there will be an opportunity for visitors to cast a vote for a favorite piece with a People’s Choice ballot. This is one of the larger exhibits of the year at the MAA, with over one hundred pieces on display, and all the work is for sale with holiday gift giving in mind.
During December, the MAA also presents the third annual Pieces of Eight. This fundraiser exhibit is in keeping with the MAA’s long-standing history of offering small works called Hooper’s Treasures. For the third year in a row, the MAA is offering small works at affordable pricing. The works are hung in the Parlor gallery using a grid format which creates a visual impact of a larger art installation. All paintings and multi media are priced at $100 and all photographs are priced at $50. Many well known local MAA artists participate by offering several pieces. They make great gifts for art lovers and fellow artists alike. Although this is a fundraiser for the MAA, the artists will retain their usual commission. The MAA portion of the proceeds will go to support the exhibits, programming and operations of the Marblehead Arts Association.
