Marblehead Little Theatre proudly announces tickets are now on sale for their upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors. The production will run October 14th through the 23rd. Little Shop is being produced by Trudi Olivetti and Stanis Ames and directed by Janet Neely with assistant direction by Bruce Whear. Musical direction by Joe Stroup, choreography by Lara Finn, with costume design by Elvira Schoenthal. Set design by Tyson Miller and lighting design by Matthew Breton, with sound design by Greg Dana. Opening night will feature a meet-the-cast reception immediately following the performance. The production is being sponsored by Marblehead Smile Design: Dr. Tim Curtin, DMD.
Little Shop of Horrors is a rock horror comedy musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman about a woebegone florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy of the same name. The music, composed by Menken in the style of the early 1960s, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song “Skid Row (Downtown)”, “Somewhere That’s Green”, and “Suddenly, Seymour”.
The cast includes Elloree Jennings as Audrey; Marty McNamee as Seymour; Kevin Groppe as Mushnik; Kirkpatrick Vanda as Orin; Julie R. Shoenthal, Nicole Soriano, and Jackie Marchetti as the Urchin Trio; Dante’ J.L. Murray as Audrey II voice; Kaitlyn Gobiel as Audrey II puppeteer; Gary Ames as Bernstein, Snip, Mrs. Luce & Patrick Martin; and Olivia Gould and Aly Yanishevsky as ensemble.
