Newburyport, MA – Newburyport Art Association presents Glass Concepts: Transparency. This exhibition is part of the “2022 International Year of Glass” (as designated by the United Nations) and takes a look at the way the concept of transparency is used in art.
With Transparency, we are celebrating glass and it’s transparent quality but we are also uplifting the other medium transparent in nature: watercolors. As the Metropolitan Museum of Art writes, watercolor is “prized for the luminosity of its transparent colors”. The artists of our Watercolor Interest Group show gossamer layers, imitating light, water, and even glass, in their paintings on view.
Glass Concepts: Transparency is on view through May 15th in our second-floor Hartson Gallery and will be on view concurrently with OpArt: New Works and Master Artists Part 1. Join us on Saturday, April 30th for an artist talk with Clare Wilson and a reception in the gallery from 2:00pm–5:00pm to celebrate the show and meet some of the exhibiting artists. All work is for sale
