Newburyport Art Association and their interest group the Abstract Artist Group of New England present Coming of Age, an exhibition highlighting the artwork of nineteen abstract artists.
This exhibit showcases the work of established and emerging artists: Muriel Angelil, Karen Battles, Pamela Bearor-Amiralian, Tarja Cockell, Rosalie Cuticchia, Donna DiGiovanni, Carin Doben, Susan Duane, Cheryl Dyment, Marcia Herson, Ethel Hills, Tricia Jones, Bonnie Lake, Barbara London, Madalene Axford Murphy, Sinikka Nogelo, Lisa Panaccione, Suzie Papin, and Anika Savage. A wide variety of artistic visions, all demonstrating a love of the abstract, are on display here bringing the viewer on a sensory journey. Many pieces take root in realistic inspiration, but rather than illustrating literally what one sees, they focus on the emotion, movement, line, shape, color, and texture of their muse to create a window into the artists’ mind’s eye.
A featured interest group of the Newburyport Art Association, the Abstract Artist Group of New England or AAGNE began 21 years ago to support and promote abstract artists. The group has stayed active during recent times by meeting both remotely and in person. They continue to share ideas and resources and critique fellow members’ work.
