An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until December 22, 2023
Newburyport Art (NAA) presents Pleinly Noted, a Featured Artist exhibition by member Maria Nemchuk. Pleinly Noted is on view in the Hills Gallery from December 8th to December 22nd. Her exhibition focuses on her en plein air work that she began creating during the early Covid pandemic in 2020. A reception will be held on December 8th, from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
Maria’s exhibition was originally scheduled for the summer of 2020, but was postponed due to the pandemic. She writes that, “in a way, I’m glad it was, because the focus of my work changed during the pandemic”. The isolation in the early days of the pandemic pushed her to find comfort in nature, and hone in on painting en plein air. This exhibition is composed of her notes, observations, and her journey, pleinly noted.
The Members’ Holiday Show runs concurrently in the Sargent, Hartson, and Mural Galleries. Also available is the Holiday Gift Shop in the window gallery near the front of the Sargent Gallery.
The galleries are free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00am–5:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm–5:00pm. Newburyport Art is closed on Mondays. The ground-floor Hills Gallery has an accessible entrance. More information, as well as an online gallery is available at newburyportart.org.
Founded in 1948, Newburyport Art is dedicated to promoting and exhibiting members’ work and to providing art education and access to the visual arts for the entire community.
