Newburyport Art (NAA) presents the NAA Master Artist Exhibition, on view in the Sargent Gallery from January 18th to January 28th. The “Master Artist” distinction recognizes artists who have reached a level of excellence in their chosen art form, demonstrated through their achievements and participation in a variety of gallery showings. Join us on Saturday, January 20th from 4:00 to 6:00pm for the opening reception.

The 2024 Master Artist Exhibition features the work of 40 artists across a variety of different media. Participating artists include: Thom Adorney, Judy Miller Bailey, Jeffrey Briggs, Lindley Briggs, Nancy Cahan, Donna Caselden, Sue Charles, Sara Demrow Dent, Mike Dorsey, Cheryl Dyment, Amy Vander Els, Jeannette Steele Esposito, Karen S Fitzgerald, Margie Florini, Diane Francis, Renee Giffroy, Ann Gillespie, Law Hamilton, Al Hiltz, Ann Jones, Cindy Journey, Ryan Kelley, Barbara Kremer, Judith Larmay, Peggy Luderer, Janet MacLeod, Elaine McMichael, Carmela Martin, Michael Milczarek, Madalene Murphy, Timothy Neill, Maria Nemchuk, Bethany Peck, Patricia Schappler, Debbie Shirley, Susan Spellman, Stoney Stone, Janet Sutherland, Mary Ann Varoski, and Mary Webber. The program began in 2019 at Newburyport Art and NAA periodically accepts new Master Artists, by way of an application. NAA anticipates opening up this application again later in 2024.

Running concurrently in the Hills and Mini Galleries is The Maine Idea, an exhibition inspired by the themes of Maine in honor of Past President Jean Trim and her dedicated service to Newburyport Art, with a special posthumous show by Christa Trim.

Founded in 1948, Newburyport Art is dedicated to promoting and exhibiting members’ work and to providing art education and access to the visual arts for the entire community. The galleries are free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00am–5:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm–5:00pm. Newburyport Art is closed on Mondays. The ground-floor Hills Gallery has an accessible entrance. More information, as well as an online gallery is available at newburyportart.org.
