SALEM — Celebrate The Fourth of July in grand style — perched on the seaside lawn at The House of the Seven Gables overlooking Salem Harbor. The view is spectacular. And so is the guest list.
Special guest Nathaniel Hawthorne will be making an appearance in honor of his 214th birthday. He was born in Salem on July 4, 1804, and his birth home, along with The House of the Seven Gables, are located at National Historic Landmark District at 115 Derby Street. Members are invited to join The Gables’ staff on the Fourth for birthday cake, a chat with Nathaniel, a cash bar and an unbeatable view of the fireworks over Salem Harbor.
The festivities begin at 6 and conclude at 10 p.m. Guests may bring their own picnic fare and seating for a sublime view of the fireworks display. No outside alcohol is permitted at The House of the Seven Gables, but the cash bar will be available till 9:15 p.m.
This annual Gables’ celebration of Nathaniel’s birthday and our country’s independence is for members of The House of the Seven Gables and their guests. To join as a member and receive an invitation, please contact Allison French at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 978-744-0991, ext. 109.
