Paula Estey Gallery, A Center for Art & Activism, (PEG) is hosting a new exhibition for November entitled “ShapeShifter.” All are invited to the Opening Night Reception on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 Harris Street in Newburyport, MA. The event will run from 6-8 p.m. with the program starting at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited for this popular event, so reserve your spot by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 978-376-4746.
Shapeshifting is defined as “The ability to physically transform through an inherently superhuman ability, divine intervention, demonic manipulation, or magic. The idea of shapeshifting is in the oldest forms of totemism and shamanism, as well as the oldest extant literature and epic poems.”
For the Opening Night of the Shapeshifter Exhibition, Marc Clopton, who is a shaman, actor, teacher, and writer, will deliver the keynote talk on a truly mystical interpretation of shape-shifting, along with a very special group experience.
Explaining the impetus behind this exhibition, Paula Estey said “Think outside the box! Think metaphysical, metaphorical and a new reality! Think resiliency and remarkableness! In today’s environment it is so important to reflect and hold tight to your principles, yet also to be open and flexible to what may come. Our artists offer such beautiful and deep interpretations on this theme.”
Artists participating in ShapeShifter include: Cynthia August, Liz Desmarais, Fontaine Dubus, Sam Kimball, Bonnie Lake, Bonita LeFlore, Heidi Newfell, and Dave Magdelenski.
