Classical guitarist, Kenya Esteva de Ruiz, will delight you with romantic music befitting of Valentine’s Day celebrations. As a prelude to your celebrations, join us on Wednesday, February 8th at 7:30pm for a “Prelude D’Amour”. We will journey through the renaissance and romantic periods exploring music by Spanish and Latin American composers including Fernando Sor, Antonio Lauro and Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit Creative Arts, a nonprofit, local community arts school providing engaging, high-quality creative instruction taught by professional teaching artists in theater, music and art. By attending this concert, you are helping make visual and performing art opportunities available and accessible to all. Creative arts provides scholarships and programming throughout the community including in our public schools, the Boys and Girls Club and at their main facility located at 25 Woburn Street in Reading.

About the Artist:
Kenya Esteva de Ruiz began studying classical guitar and violin from an early age, in Venezuela and eventually became a student of renowned Chilean guitarists Arturo Gonzalez Quintana, in fact his son Roberto Gonzalez Alvarado was her first teacher! Kenya has a rich and diverse performing and teaching career beginning in Venezuela with El Sistema. She has taught in Buffalo, NY where she was a String and Early Childhood Educator as well as a Classical Guitar Instructor; in Texas, she served as an Orchestra and Mariachi Director. Locally, Kenya is active as a performer in Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, plays a part of various Music Ministries throughout Greater Boston and of course, as part of our own Creative Arts Ensemble. In addition to performing, she also offers classes in early childhood music and lessons in violin, cello and guitar at Creative Arts.
