Seaside Sustainability will be hosting a virtual phone banking event via Zoom on Monday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. to call for action on Bill H.2348c and Bill S.1576, which have been sitting in the Massachusetts House and Senate since March. These bills aim to ban the manufacture and sale of food packaging and firefighter personal protective equipment that contain PFAS chemicals.
PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are a class of chemicals that are designed to never break down. Their persistence makes them incredibly dangerous to our health, with exposure associated with cancer, kidney and liver damage, immunological damage, and impaired fetal development. In order to keep your communities healthy, we need your help to ban the manufacture and sale of PFAS chemicals.
If interested in attending the phone banking event, please fill out Seaside Sustainability’s sign-up sheet to receive access to the Phone Banking Guide to learn more about the bills, what PFAS chemicals are, and to access the scripts Seaside Sustainability wrote for participants to recite when calling a representative.
