SALEM — It’s movie night, once again, at The House of the Seven Gables. Not only will guests enjoy a notable movie made from one of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novels, they will watch as actor Vincent Price leads a one-of-a-kind tour of The Gables.
The second film in the ‘Hawthorne in Hollywood’ film series is Thursday, September 5. The 1940 movie, “The House of the Seven Gables,” stars George Sanders, Margaret Lindsay and Vincent Price at his best. Movie blogger Jeffrey Anderson said that Vincent Price “has one of the darkest and most commanding roles of his early years.” This movie, billed as a gothic romance, was made from Hawthorne’s bestselling novel, “The House of the Seven Gables.”
All are invited to bring friends and family to movie night at The Gables. Settle down with some popcorn and soft drinks and watch as some of Hollywood’s most iconic actors deliver a night of drama and intrigue set, of course, in the house next door. The bonus event — Vincent Price’s narrated tour of The Gables made in 1990 — kicks off the fun evening.
This community film series runs through October 4. Showtime is 6:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for members.
