SUMMARY:Rockport Celtic Festival: TRANSATLANTIC
DESCRIPTION:Maeve Gilchrist | Pine Tree Flyers | David Coffin | Jeremy Kittel | Liz Carroll | Rasa String Quartet | Hannah Read | Logan Coale \nJoin us for this year’s nautical adventure as we traverse the Atlantic Ocean from shore to shore. We present the firepower of the Pine Tree Flyers\, a quartet from Portland\, Maine that has sourced and reignited repertoire from the state of Maine. We welcome back local Sea Shanty star David Coffin as well as the Rasa String Quartet\, who will be collaborating with our artist in residence Jeremy Kittel\, as well as sharing some sea-themed repertoire from the Western Classical canon. Returning for a second night\, US-based Scottish fiddler and singer Hannah Read shares her take on a number of traditional songs of the sea with accompaniment by Maeve Gilchrist and bassist Logan Steele Coale. \nIn honorable memory of our founder Brian O’Donovan\, we have commissioned a new collaboration between internationally acclaimed Irish fiddler and composer Liz Carroll and the Rasa String Quartet. Brian founded this festival on the belief that Celtic Music should be utilized as a platform to connect with other cultures as a source of good in the world. As well as presenting world-class traditional Celtic music\, our festival is committed to creating space for the evolution of the genre. Tonight’s premiere of this new ocean-inspired composition will honor Brian and manifest what this festival is all about. Don’t miss this salty musical feast! \nFESTIVAL MUSICIANS\nMaeve Gilchrist\, harp | Jeremy Kittel (artist-in-residence) | Hannah Read Trio\, fiddle\, guitar\, singer | Väsen | Pine Tree Flyers | Katie McNally | Neil Pearlman | Darol Anger\, fiddle | Bruce Molsky\, guitar\, fiddle | David Coffin\, vocals | Madelyn Monaghan\, voice | Jeremy Kittel Trio | Joey Abarta\, Irish piper | Liz Carroll\, fiddle\, composer | Rasa String Quartet | Logan Coale\, double bass \nROCKPORT CELTIC FESTIVAL SCHEDULE \nWINDOW NOTICE: Due to the volume level of certain concerts\, the curtain may be closed over the window for acoustical purposes. SUMMARY:Jesse Dayton
DESCRIPTION:9/15/24\nReserved Table Floor seats\, Reserved Rail Stools\, G.A Standing. 7:00pm Doors / 7:30pm Show\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required. $30-$20 \nJesse Dayton\, “…a towering figure in the realm of outlaw country…” Tinnitist\, serves up his unique brand of Texas blues with his new album\, “The Hard Way Blues\,” produced by Shooter Jennings. This album made an impressive debut at #2 on the Billboard Blues chart\, behind only Slash’s juggernaut “Orgy of the Damned.” The Beaumont native’s career\, spanning multiple decades\, showcases his versatility as a chart-topping songwriter\, guitar virtuoso\, author\, frontman\, sideman\, producer\, and relentless road warrior. From his early days with the Road Kings\, where he seamlessly blended Texas Rockabilly and Country with Punk Rock’s raw energy\, Dayton has been a trailblazer. His innovative style earned him critical acclaim and paved the way for collaborations with music’s legends. Over the years\, his partnerships have included blues sensation Samantha Fish on the Grammy-nominated “Death Wish Blues\,” country icons like Willie Nelson\, Waylon Jennings; Johnny Cash and Glenn Campbell\, rock rebels such as Duff McKagan and Glenn Danzig\, and visionary horror filmmaker Rob Zombie. Amidst this diverse body of work\, Dayton’s solo albums stand as a testament to his genre- defying artistry\, solidifying his reputation as a roots-rock renaissance man. \nCollaborating with Shooter Jennings\, renowned for his Grammy-winning work with artists Brandi Carlisle and Tanya Tucker\, Jesse Dayton once again evolves with The Hard Way Blues. Building on his signature outlaw sound\, Dayton explains\, “I wanted to make something that reflected where I’m at right now; so\, we turned a musical corner and embraced a big sound with a lot of ripping\, bluesy guitar leads. Sometimes\, it sounds like Freddie King. Sometimes\, it sounds like Jimmy Page. This record was completely liberating for me because it goes back to so many of my longtime influences. I don’t care about genres\, trends\, or buzz words — I just care about being truthful to my own vision\, and that’s what The Hard Way Blues allowed me to do.” Crafted in the heart of Hollywood\, ” The Hard Way Blues stands as a testament to Dayton’s esteemed career\, meticulously blending his rowdy spirit with timeless influences and showcasing his versatility and artistry in an irresistibly melodic collection of American music.
