SUMMARY:Brad Mehldau
DESCRIPTION:Experience the critically acclaimed artistry of Brad Mehldau\, hailed by The New York Times as “the most influential jazz pianist of the last 20 years.” Known for his lyrical and innovative style\, Mehldau’s performances are a masterclass in musical ingenuity and emotional depth\, seamlessly blending jazz\, classical and pop influences. \n“Brad Mehldau is a giant of contemporary jazz piano whose musical language has always been difficult to define due to his healthy lack of respect for musical boundaries.”\n– All About Jazz \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nRenowned as one of the most lyrical and intimate voices in contemporary jazz piano\, Brad Mehldau has carved a distinctive path that blends jazz exploration\, classical romanticism and pop sensibility. Acclaimed as a bandleader and celebrated for collaborations with artists like Pat Metheny\, Renée Fleming and Joshua Redman\, Mehldau is admired by both jazz purists and broader music audiences. \nHis innovative approach to melding musical genres has resulted in stunning reinterpretations of songs by The Beatles\, Radiohead\, Paul Simon\, and Nick Drake\, as well as timeless classics by Cole Porter and Gershwin. These sit alongside a significant and ever-evolving catalogue of his original compositions\, performed in both solo and trio settings. \nWith his deep appreciation for popular music and classical influences\, Mehldau has been hailed as “the most influential jazz pianist of the last 20 years” (The New York Times). \n“Pianist Brad Mehldau is the ultimate jazz chameleon\, at home covering songs by composers as diverse as Cole Porter\, Thelonious Monk\, Radiohead\, Stone Temple Pilots\, Nick Drake\, George Gershwin and Massive Attack…He respects the sophistication that can be derived from these compositions and treats them all with equal reverence.”\n-Pop Matters \nBelow\, Brad Mehldau discusses his album ‘After Bach II’ and performs ‘Variations on Bach’s Goldberg Theme’ from it. The album is out now: https://bradmehldau.lnk.to/afterbachii
