Highlights of the tour include a room filled with stunning 19th century Chinese wallpaper\, the evolution of the stunning Sedgwick gardens\, and the hidden connection between the house and an old Southern antebellum mansion. \nPlease dress appropriately for the weather. Sturdy\, comfortable shoes are recommended. Meeting point for the tour is in front of the Main House by the copper beech tree. \nSpace is limited. \nLong Hill House & Garden Tours run most Saturdays and Sundays April through the end of September. DESCRIPTION:Engage your curious budding gardener or adventurer in our new Little Sprouts in the Garden series\, a monthly themed program to connect your child with the natural world around us. \nAs the snow begins to melt with spring around the corner\, it may be too cold for fresh flowers or green grass in the gardens! In the meantime\, bring some green life inside your house with a terrarium workshop to create a miniature natural world! Participants will learn about plant care and life cycle basics and leave with a mini terrarium of their own. Recommended for ages 6-10 but all are welcome. An adult must attend but there is no additional charge. \nPre-registration is required. Refunds for this event must be requested 7 days prior to workshop. Join Stevens-Coolidge’s own horticulturist\, Kaela Robinson\, for a workshop class that will take you from planning and sowing\, to cutting and arranging from your very own cut flower garden. \nKaela will show you step-by-step how to create the perfect ‘Cut and come again’ cutting patch from start to finish\, covering everything from how to assess your site and choose your color palette to how to choose plants to balance flower and foliage and how to plan your ‘spring’ and ‘summer’ schemes. Participants will leave ready to build and nurture their own cutting garden and with some annual seed packets to get started. \nFrom her extensive research and experience designing the Stevens-Coolidge cutting gardens\, Kaela will share her favorite annuals\, biennials\, and perennials\, and will provide guidance on the key gardening tasks across the seasons\, offering technical tips and tricks for encouraging healthy plant development and bountiful growth.
