SUMMARY:July Woodcarving Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This intensive Bare-Bones Workshop will give beginner enthusiasts a solid foundation in woodcarving. No matter what your carving style preference is\, you need to know these fundamentals of carving technique and you need to know them well. With the right technique training\, woodcarving for you can be more effortless and graceful. This is the romance of the skill. So just like a tennis player who enjoys improving his skill\, and takes pleasure in volleying the ball back and forth across the net\, the same is true for a woodcarver with a tool in hand. Hence\, this is a serious beginner’s workshop for students with serious intent. \nThis workshop will take place from July 20th – 24th\, during the hours of 9:00 am – 5:00 pm each day. Choose a page from the novel and illustrate it in your own style. Later\, PEM’s Learning and Community Engagement staff will scan all the participants’ drawings to create our own illustrated copy of Moby Dick. \nThis is a special one-day\, in-person event. Each volunteer who completes a page will receive a copy of the Moby Dick graphic novel adaptation by David Rodriguez and Ignacio Segesso as a thank-you gift for participating.
