SUMMARY:Elizabeth Bish to Present Artist Talk at Rocky Neck Cultural Center
DESCRIPTION:Elizabeth Bish to Present Artist Talk at Rocky Neck Cultural Center\nFriday\, October 2 at 6:00 PM\nCultural Center at Rocky Neck\, 6 Wonson Street\, Gloucester\, MA \nOpen Studio on Saturday\, October 24 from 2-4 PM\n51 Main Street (Rear)\, Gloucester\, MA \nElizabeth Bish Closing Talk on Friday\, October 30 at 6 PM\n51 Main Street (Rear)\, Gloucester\, MA \nGloucester\, MA The Rocky Neck Art Colony invites the community to join Gloucester artist Elizabeth Bish for an intimate Artist Talk on Friday\, October 2\, at 6 PM at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck.\nAs the 2026 Gloucester Invitational Artist\, Bish will share her artistic journey and process to date and how she’s looking forward to the Goetemann Artist Residency providing her with the time and space to explore new directions in her painting\, pushing her familiar language of landscape and still life toward greater abstraction.\nA longtime Gloucester resident and practicing chiropractor\, Bish has devoted decades to the study and practice of painting. Working primarily in oils\, her work encompasses landscape\, still life\, figurative painting\, and abstraction. Her paintings are grounded in close observation while increasingly exploring the possibilities of color\, shape\, gesture\, and abstraction.\nBish has exhibited throughout Cape Ann\, including at the Rockport Art Association\, North Shore Arts Association\, and Patricia Sullivan Gallery. Her work reflects a deep connection to the Cape Ann landscape and a continuing curiosity about how that landscape can be translated through paint.\nThe Artist Talk is open to the public. For more information\, visit the Rocky Neck Art Colony or contact the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck. RNAC.director@gmail.com.

She enjoys using her creative flair in quilting and interior design as well. \nSue graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor’s in business with a focus on hospitality management and earned an associate’s degree from the Culinary Institute of America. Following her tenure as a pastry chef in New Hampshire\, Sue returned to school for a certificate in graphic design and put her talents to use as a designer in the book publishing and art publishing industries in Vermont. In early 2019\, Sue opened her own gallery and studio\, Arts Abound in Magnolia Village\, MA\, as an artistic haven for local artists. Through the gallery\, over 30 artists featured their creative works\, ranging from paintings\, hand-painted silk scarves\, silver jewelry\, and more. Sue also ran many workshops and classes featuring many of the artists. Often\, Sue would work late into the night\, painting in her Arts Abound studio. After closing the gallery in 2022\, Sue continued to offer the often sold-out painting classes\, taught by some of the Arts Abound artists. \nSue has studied under numerous artists to learn watercolor\, acrylic painting\, cold wax & oil\, and collage. Her goals for the Hammond Castle Museum sketch classes are to engage those who are new to the world of art and reinvigorate those who haven’t picked up a blank canvas or sketch pad in a long time. Sue’s philosophy on the creative process encourages you to be less concerned about the final product and instead to enjoy the journey of creativity and get lost in the moment. Once you find yourself in your work\, you may just be surprised!

SUMMARY:Campbell McLean: War-Birds & Adverts
DESCRIPTION:Reception: Campbell McLean explores her queer-American experience by creating caricaturist paintings\, objects\, installations\, and videos. From oil on canvas\, papier-mâché to found object\, McLean’s unique aesthetic approach shines through in her sporadic ‘make-due’ energy that flows seamlessly between 2D and 3D forms. The resulting works are immersive and modular series and installations that read as both specific and universalizing\, personal and relatable.

Museum Member savings apply.\nWeather-dependent; classes may be canceled\, and reservations will be refunded if necessary. \nAbout Sue Wheeler:\nSue has a lifetime of making art through various mediums from delectable pastries to abstracts in pastels\, watercolor\, and acrylics.
