Rollins\nThree Tuesdays\, June 10th – June 24th | 10:00am–1:00pm | Upstairs Hartson Gallery\n$200 for NAA members / $250 non-members\nIn this Intermediate-to-Advanced-level workshop\, attendees take a fresh approach to their work. Each brings a source of inspiration such as a poem\, prose\, a piece of music\, a piece of art (not their own) or a concept that speaks to them intellectually and emotionally. From there they will create a mixed media piece based on that concept\, to include their own drawings or water-based painting as well as other elements (such as printed patterns\, torn paper\, etc.) that lend meaning and visual enrichment. There will be lots of sharing and discussion to help each artist achieve his or her goals. This workshop will be held on June 10th\, June 17th\, and June 24th.

DESCRIPTION:Juried by Adria Arch\nOpening Reception: Sunday\, June 8\, 2025\, 5pm-7pm \nGallery Hours: Thursday-Sunday\, 12pm-5pm\nThe Cultural Center at Rocky Neck\, Gloucester \nThe Shape of Things\, juried by Adria Arch\, features 17 artists from the greater Boston region: Mary Bablitch\, Steven Cabral\, Cyrille Conan\, Monica DeSalvo\, Carin Doben\, Barbe Ennis\, Bette Frank Leahy\, Roberta Nigro Hall\, Nancy Harrod\, L.Marie Lamarche\, Ellen Liner\, David McCoy\, Laura Menucci\, Kimberly Quint\, Allison Tanenhaus\, Amantha Tsaros\, and Leslie Zelamsky. The 47 pieces in the exhibition include paintings\, mixed media\, sculpture and video\, all of which utilize the fundamental design element of shape as a defining component of the work. \nLecture: The Shape of Abstraction: Tracing a Visual Revolution\, Wednesday\, June 25\, 7pm\nJoin Boston artist and educator Adria Arch for a dynamic visual presentation tracing the evolution of abstract art. From early pioneers like Hilma af Klint and Kandinsky to contemporary innovators\, Arch’s talk explores how abstraction broke from tradition to express deeper emotional and intellectual ideas. Special focus is given to women artists whose contributions have often been overlooked. DESCRIPTION:Through Tom’s cinematic eyes\, his family’s life isn’t the dream he imagined. In a rundown St. Louis apartment the matriarch\, Amanda Wingfield\, is desperately clinging to a past of parties and endless callers. Her adult children\, Tom and Laura\, become victims of her delusions as she pushes for Tom to provide for the struggling family and Laura to find a husband. The two seek solace in ways of escaping their mother and their own misery until a visit from a gentleman caller presents the possibility of new opportunities. \nRenowned playwright Tennessee Williams opens the 2025 Season with this classic drama\, directed by Doug Lockwood. Running from June 5 to 28\, all performances are at Gloucester Stage’s Theater 267 East Main Street\, Gloucester. Showtimes are Wednesdays & Thursdays at 7:30pm\, Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm\, and matinees Saturdays & Sunday at 3:00pm.
