But that’s just the beginning. Each of these works is then given anonymously to another participating artist\, who creates an entirely new piece in response.\nThe result is a dynamic pairing of “inspiration” and “exploration” works of two creations in conversation. Sometimes the link between the works is direct and visible\, echoing a color palette\, a phrase\, or a material. Other times\, it’s conceptual\, abstract\, even surprising\, like a meditation on theme\, emotion\, or form that reveals the breadth of interpretation and imagination.\nTogether\, these artistic pairings create an ecosystem of influence\, connection\, and transformation. The final exhibition is more than a showcase of individual talent. It is a living map of creative lineage. Viewers are invited into a rich\, layered experience: to trace the threads of inspiration\, to reflect on how ideas evolve\, and to witness the many ways artists see\, feel\, and respond to the world and to each other.\nVERSE/VISUAL is not just a show. Originally launched in 1926 as a working fishing schooner\, Adventure has been lovingly restored and is now a floating museum dedicated to preserving the rich legacy of New England’s fishing heritage. \nOn your tour\, you’ll walk the very decks where dorymen once hauled in their catch\, learn about life at sea in the 1920s\, and hear the incredible story of how this National Historic Landmark was saved from decay. Knowledgeable and passionate docents—many of whom have sailed Adventure themselves—will bring her stories to life\, from the golden age of sail to her current role as an ambassador for maritime history and education. \nWhether you’re a maritime buff\, a curious traveler\, or a family looking for a fun and educational outing\, a deck tour of the Schooner Adventure is a hands-on experience you won’t forget. SUMMARY:Rocky Neck Historic Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Rocky Neck Historic Walking Tour are back for the season! This public walking tour covers the rich history of Rocky Neck Art Colony\, showcasing the many artists who worked here\, especially from the late nineteenth century to today. Artists such as Edward Hopper\, Winslow Homer\, Augustus Buhler\, John Sloan\, Theresa Bernstein\, Stuart Davis\, and Emile Gruppe found artistic inspiration and community in this peninsula. \nJoin one of our docents on the tour and follow a path that held studios and gathering places of the artists\, interspersed with the fishing shacks\, sail lofts\, and schooner docks of the fishing industry that grew up here over the same period. It will include recognition of the many galleries that contribute to the Rocky Neck community today. The tour also describes the importance of transportation and the proliferation of hotels that encouraged the growth of Rocky Neck as an artist community\, as well as other notable historic events. \nRNAC’s Historic Walking Tours last from 1- to 1.5 hours and cover approximately .75 miles. Tours begin at the Rocky Neck Parking Lot and end at the Rocky Neck Cultural Center\, 6 Wonson Street\, Gloucester\, MA. \nParticipants are encouraged to park in the parking lot at the entrance to Rocky Neck where a volunteer tour guide meets the group. Comfortable shoes are encouraged. Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain and up a hill. \nThe 2025 public tours will be take place on Saturdays at 11am:\nMay 24\nJune 7 & 21\nJuly 12 & 26\nAugust 9 & 23\nSeptember 6 & 20 \nTours are limited to 15 people.\nCost: $10 for RNAC members or $25 for nonmembers. \nFor more information email director@rockyneckartcolony.org or call 978-515-7004. The two seek solace in ways of escaping their mother and their own misery until a visit from a gentleman caller presents the possibility of new opportunities. \nRenowned playwright Tennessee Williams opens the 2025 Season with this classic drama\, directed by Doug Lockwood. Running from June 5 to 28\, all performances are at Gloucester Stage’s Theater 267 East Main Street\, Gloucester. Showtimes are Wednesdays & Thursdays at 7:30pm\, Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm\, and matinees Saturdays & Sunday at 3:00pm.
