SUMMARY:Boundless: The Art of the Book
DESCRIPTION:Exhibit Dates: July 17-August 24\nOpening Reception: Sunday\, July 20\, 5pm-7pm \nThis dynamic exhibition explores the rich and ever-evolving world of the book as an art form. Featuring artist books\, altered books\, and book illustration\, “Boundless” showcases imaginative approaches to storytelling\, visual poetry\, personal narratives\, and inventive book structures. Visitors will encounter works that range from the traditional to the avant-garde—books that hang\, twist\, stand\, open like advent calendars\, or defy conventional forms altogether. \nThe exhibition presents a wide array of techniques\, including letterpress\, etching\, monoprint\, painting\, photography\, and mixed media. Through these varied practices\, artists explore themes of memory\, imagination\, identity\, and the contemporary moment. \n“Boundless” features contributions from a distinguished group of 29 artists\, including local creatives\, university faculty\, and artists affiliated with book arts communities throughout New England and beyond—Boston\, Philadelphia\, New York\, New Hampshire\, and Maine. \nExhibiting Artists:\nRen Barnes\, Stevens Brosnihan\, Rachel Church\, Pamela Courtleigh\, Haig Demarjian\, Mary Dewey\, Madge Evers\, Lynda Fatalo\, Cristina Hajosy\, Hannah Jacoby-Brooks\, Linda Kauss\, Giles Laroche\, Kelle Louaillier\, Leslie Lyman\, Fred Lynch\, Claire B. SUMMARY:Summer BloomFest: Behind the Layers Historic Mural Restoration House Tour
DESCRIPTION:Step inside our historic house for a behind-the-scenes glimpse into one of our most captivating features: a hand-painted historic mural in our Ballroom currently being restored to its former glory. \nThis guided tour will take participants through the house for a brief overview of the property to tell the story of the Stevens and Coolidge families and then bring participants up to the mural. Here\, paint conservator\, Lisa Mehlin will discuss her current paint conservation work and how she delicately cleans\, stabilizes\, and revives these walls to their original colors\, uncovering details hidden for decades. From artistic technique to historical significance\, this tour reveals how preserving the past brings new life to the present. \nPre-registration is required. Refunds for this event must be requested 7 days prior to tour. In the event of cancellation\, you will be notified via the email address you used to register and refunded in full within 14 business days.
