DESCRIPTION:Navigating Art & Science\nCurated by Cynthia Roth\, Marge Rack\, and Ronda Faloon\nAugust 28 – October 13\nOpening Reception: Sunday\, September 14\, 4-6pm\nGallery Hours: Thursday-Sunday\, 12-5pm\nExhibiting Artists: Resa Blatman\, Daisy Braun\, Georgie Friedman\, Perri Lynch Howard\, Michelle Lougee\, Michelle Samour\, Jessica Straus\, and Christopher Volpe \nNavigating Art & Science featuring eight artists who are deeply involved in scientific inquiry and activism. While local scientists search for ways to help ocean species be more resilient to survive the rapidly changing marine environment\, these artists\, alert to the predicament\, are creating art with urgent messages for stewardship and action. \nThe exhibit coincides with a city-wide initiative STAND UP for Art & Science\, coordinated by Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute volunteers. \nWhile all the work in the exhibition has been created in response to human impact on the environment\, in addition\, several of the artists have been inspired by expeditions to the Arctic Circle and Greenland and residencies in marine laboratories on Cape Ann and beyond. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 6\, 2025\n2:00 p.m.—3:00 p.m.\nWhite-Ellery House\, CAM Green\n13 Poplar St\, Gloucester\, MA 01930\nFree and open to the public.\nSpace is limited\, reservations are required. \nJoin photographer and arts educator Patricia Scialo for an hour-long pop-up exhibition of her cyanotype work in the White-Ellery House. Cyanotype sun prints were developed and popularized as an art form in the 19th century. Join Patricia earlier in the day to create your own cyanotype print. \nAbout the artist: Patricia Scialo is a fine art photographer specializing in historic photographic processes and hand printing techniques\, drawing inspiration from light\, nature\, and the human form.
