DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Sarah Knutie \nMeet iconic species like blue-footed boobies\, hammerhead sharks\, giant tortoises\, and other amazing wildlife that call the Galápagos Islands home. Then we go on assignment with National Geographic Explorer and disease ecologist Sarah Knutie to explore the groundbreaking science of the air\, land\, and sea with Darwin’s finches and shark nurseries. \nAbout Sarah Knutie \nSarah Knutie is a disease ecologist who studies the effects of invasive parasites on Darwin’s finches in the Galápagos Islands\, where she has worked since 2010. She is an associate professor at the University of Connecticut. She has a passion for teaching\, especially when she can incorporate hands-on fieldwork\, and she mentors an amazing group of female scientists. \nNational Geographic Live brings our Explorers from the field to Rockport\, live on stage. \nNational Geographic continues to push the boundaries of knowledge\, uncovering new insights about the natural and cultural worlds and strengthening our connection to them and one another. We bring these stories of adventure\, world cultures and places to life in exhibitions\, live events and experiences designed for audiences of all ages. This storytelling comes to life through National Geographic Live\, where National Geographic Explorers take the stage to share fascinating stories from the field and breathtaking photography.
