DESCRIPTION:The dynamic duo of musicologists\, Elizabeth Seitz and Andrew Shryock will take the audience on a musical journey through time as they explore the evolving role of the piano in string chamber music. This lecture offers an in-depth look at the rich history and background of this beloved instrument pairing\, providing listeners with a deeper appreciation for its development and significance in chamber music. \nThe lecture will focus on the iconic piano trios and quartets by Beethoven\, Brahms\, Fauré\, and Mozart\, to be performed during this year’s Rockport Chamber Music Festival. \nFree\, reservations encouraged. Light refreshments will be served for this mid-morning lecture.
