SUMMARY:The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) 50th Anniversary Screening with Original Cast & Crew
DESCRIPTION:Presented By Shadows of Salem Horror & Paranormal Convention \nCome celebrate 50 years of a rip roaring chain saw from Texas with screams of excitement and praise to honor the members of the original cast and crew for the years of horrifying nightmares! \nFeaturing…\nJohn Dugan “Grandpa” \nEd Guinn “The Truck Driver” \nEd Neil “The Hitchhiker” \nDaniel Pearl\, Cinematographer \nIn 1973 a small group of film students in Texas conjured a story and a small amount of money to create a film so shocking and violent that they left a permanent scar on celluloid and the public conscience\, forever changing cinematic history. \nThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre was unleashed unto the world in October of 1974 by Director Tobe Hooper and co-written with producer Kim Henkel\, the film stars Marilyn Burns\, Paul A. Partain\, Terri McMinn\, Allen Danziger\, William Vail\, Edwin Neal\, Jim Siedow\, John Dugan and Gunnar Hansen as Leatherface. Upon release\, the film was deemed so violent that it received an X rating and was banned in multiple countries. Contributing to the response was the billing of the film as a “true story”\, which was a marketing ploy to further affect audiences in an effort to attract more movie goers. \nWhat is impressive about the reception and filmmaking talents is that there is very little to no blood in the film which had audiences react in visceral ways as some passed out in their seats while others were sent running for the doors in shock and disgust. \nThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre is widely revered as one of the greatest and most controversial films of all time! \nOver the past 50 years\, the film as been recognized for its lasting presence and genre defining qualities. It has crushed endless Top 10 lists over the decades and in turn\, easily inspiring generations of filmmakers to create their own Versions of terror to be endured for future audiences. \n“As violent and gruesome and blood-soaked as the title promises” – Roger Ebert\n“A work of cataclysmic terror” – Stephen King\n“What kind of Mansonite Crazoid could have come up with such a thing” – Wes Craven \nThis presentation is the opening night of Shadows of Salem Horror & Paranormal Convention taking place in Salem\, MA October 19 and 20. For more information on the Convention\, go to theshadowsofsalem.com or email info@theshadowsofsalem.com.

SUMMARY:Prima Facie
DESCRIPTION:The Empire Street production of Jodie Comer’s (Killing Eve) Olivier and Tony Award-winning performance in Suzie Miller’s gripping one-woman play returns to cinemas. \n“West End debuts don’t come much more astonishing than this” — Daily Telegraph\nTessa is a young\, brilliant barrister. She has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game; defending; cross examining and winning. An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law\, burden of proof and morals diverge. \nPrima Facie takes us to the heart of where emotion and experience collide with the rules of the game. Justin Martin directs this solo tour de force\, captured live in 2022 during a sold out run at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End. \n★★★★ “West End debuts don’t come much more astonishing than this” (Daily Telegraph) \n★★★★ “masterful West End debut” (Guardian) \n★★★★ “Jodie Comer takes the stage by storm” (The Times) \n★★★★ “an extraordinarily gutsy and rich performance by Jodie Comer” (Evening Standard) \nRating: R\nApprox. runtime: 125 minutes

SUMMARY:Cabin Music Film Screening at Cinema Salem
DESCRIPTION:Special Event with Filmmaker Q&A\nCabin Music is New York pianist and filmmaker James Carson’s two-decade effort to transform the ways in which music is created and experienced by audiences. A childhood prodigy\, Carson’s first orchestral works were performed by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at age sixteen. His subsequent studies at the New England Conservatory\, with giants including Cecil Taylor\, Joe Maneri\, and the poet Robert Creeley\, led him to a dramatic life change: he walked away from music to backpack overland from Spain to Japan\, then built a remote strawbale cabin in the pursuit of creating a new form of music. Drawing from his isolated time in his cabin\, Carson’s performances remove his own intentions by receiving and channeling all forces and energies within and beyond the performance space. He\, and his award-winning\, self-directed feature documentary film debut\, Cabin Music\, now tour internationally\, initiating audiences into the project’s global origins. \n“A supremely immersive experience.” — American Society of Cinematographers \n“A stunning musician.” POV Magazine \n“A quest to create sounds that reflect the magnificence of nature.” — Times of India

SUMMARY:Evil Dead in Concert - Screening w/ Live Original Score
DESCRIPTION:Evil Dead In Concert\, a live-to-film experience that thrills and chills\, resurrects Sam Raimi’s beloved cult classic in a way audiences have never seen before — in this lifetime. \nThe legendary film will be screened in a newly restored format and brought to life on stage while a live ensemble performs the entire revamped original musical score from composer Joe LoDuca. \nLoDuca began his film career by composing this iconic score for director Sam Raimi\, and went on to win multiple Emmys for his scoring work.
