Each lecture will be followed by a reception with light refreshments. The series\, Celebrating the American Landscape: In Art and In Nature\, includes:\nOct. 1st – Preserving Scenic Beauty in Charles Eliot’s Museum of Landscapes presented by Cindy Brockway\, Trustees Senior Managing Director of Cultural Resources. The second lecture in the series celebrates the New England landscape that surrounds us\, which remains at the heart of The Trustees’ mission as founded by Charles Eliot in 1891.\nSept. 24th – Olana: Frederic Church’s Vision of Art & Landscape presented by Sean Sawyer\, PhD\, President of The Olana Partnership. This first lecture will showcase the artistic visions of Hudson River School landscape artist Frederic Church (1826-1900). Church created Olana\, his artful 250-acre home and studio\, now a National Historic Landmark in Hudson\, New York.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in October & November for weekly homeschool programs exploring the stories of The Crane Estate & Appleton Farms. Participants will learn the stories of the many people & animals who have lived here over the years from Indigenous farmers & fishers\, to European colonists\, to local & invasive plant & animal species. Through inquiry and hands-on investigation we will learn what makes the Crane Estate & Appleton Farms special to their many residents & visitors\, including you! \nThis is a drop-off program that is open to ages 5-11 and will include small group work specialized activities based on age and peer mentoring opportunities between age groups. \nThe class takes place rain or shine\, with as much time spent outdoors as possible. Students should arrive dressed for the weather and bring a lunch and water bottle. \nHomeschool Scholars: Stories of the Farm & Coast- This 4-class series program takes place on Thursday mornings from 9am-12pm on October 29\, November 5\, 12\, & 19. \nCrane Estate: October 29 & November 12\nAppleton Farms: November 5 & 19
