SUMMARY:GA-20
DESCRIPTION:4/13/2024\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required. 7:30p doors / 8:15p show \nWINNER of 2023 Boston Music Award for Best Blues Artist \nIf you care to know how a rowdy 1950s Chicago juke joint sounded\, GA-20 are here to help. They keep things simple and fierce…scything\, growling riffs\, driving grooves\, blistering boogies and defiant vocals. – The Guardian (UK) \nGA-20 clearly is on to something big. It’s a movement\, a new traditional blues revival. The dynamic\, throwback blues trio are disciples of the place where traditional blues\, country and rock ‘n’ roll intersect. “We make records that we would want to listen to\,” says guitarist Matt Stubbs. “It’s our take on the song-based traditional electric blues we love.” Stubbs and guitarist/vocalist Pat Faherty\, and drummer Tim Carman have been at the forefront of this traditional blues revival since they first formed in 2018. It’s no wonder they skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard Blues Charts.

SUMMARY:LaMP
DESCRIPTION:21+\, Positive I.D. Required. 7:00pm Doors/8:00pm Show \nLaMP is the project featuring Trey Anastasio Band/Soule Monde band mates\, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski and drummer Russ Lawton\, and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Scott Metzger. In case it’s not obvious\, the band takes its name from the first letters of each members’ surname. \nThe trio debuted at a show in December 2018 at Nectar’s in Burlington\, Vermont. They then reconvened last summer and held recording sessions with Roger Stauss at Sugarhouse Soundworks in Burlington. \n“With Russ and Ray being so much of a team as they are\, they’ve done who knows how many gigs together? It’s been a good challenge to join them to try and add something to their Vulcan mind-meld level of music-making while adding something to the foundation they’ve built. \nI’m in Brooklyn\, and Russ and Ray are up in Vermont. We wrote everything via the internet. We figured out telecommuting and working from home before it was fashionable [laughs]. We’d usually start with Russ sending around a drumbeat he was working on\, then Ray and I would put down ideas and we’d send them back and forth\, editing everything as we went along. When we finally found some time to record\, I drove up to Vermont\, we took a day to flush everything out and rehearse\, then spent two days recording.” Scott Metzger Jambase

SUMMARY:Reverie 73 presents 420 Day with Gracie Curran & the High Falutin Band
DESCRIPTION:4/20/2024\n21+\, 7:30p Doors / 8:30p show \n2014 Boston Music Awards winner\, Blues Artist of the Year! \nBoston Globe critic Steve Morse called the singer “a force of nature” with a “Mavis Staples-like voice.” \nSteven Ovadia of American Blues Scene says Gracie Curran‘s voice is reminiscent of Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes. \nOccasionally a vocalist comes along with such presence that they command everyones undivided attention. Such is the case with Bostons Gracie Curran. She has earned her reputation for jaw dropping Blues & Soul in every blues club and juke joint from Boston to Beale Street. There is nothing subtle in her booming big mama voice. Taking a line sometimes trod by Etta\, Janis and Shemekia\, Gracie drives a high pulse and drains the emotional bucket dry.

SUMMARY:Soggy Po Boys
DESCRIPTION:The Soggy Po Boys\, native to New England\, have quickly become an institution. They are spreading the good news of New Orleans music across the northeast and beyond\, playing at concert halls and street corners; music festivals and burlesque festivals; bars and libraries; wherever the party requires. Part of the beauty of New Orleans music is that it’s celebrated and appreciated wherever it goes\, from the street to the theater. \nThe Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece. Exploring the vast musical traditions of New Orleans and expanding their repertoire to look beyond NOLA jazz\, the band includes traditional Caribbean tunes (it’s been said that New Orleans is the northernmost city in the Caribbean)\, as well as Meters funk\, soul\, and brass band / street beat music. There are a myriad of traditions that flow into New Orleans culture just as there are tributaries that feed the Mississippi\, and the Po Boys are eager to explore what makes the music of New Orleans so damn special. You’ll hear the heavy influence of the New Orleans sound across the band and in the stories told by their original tunes. Despite the scope of its sound\, the outfit is only seven people\, and thrives on the interplay and group dynamics that bring this music to life. \nThe Soggy Po Boys are: \nStu Dias- Vocals / Guitar\nEric Klaxton- Clarinet/Sop. Sax\nNick Mainella- Tenor Sax\nJosh Gagnon – Trombone\nMike Effenberger- Piano\nScott Kiefner- Upright Bass\nBrian Waterhouse – Drums/Percussion

SUMMARY:An Evening with Coco Montoya
DESCRIPTION:4/21/2024\n21+ / Positive. I.D. Required. 6:30p doors / 7:30p show \n“An astounding guitar virtuoso and a forceful singer.” – Billboard \n“Stratocaster-fueled\, fierce slash-and-burn guitar work…dramatic\, smoldering Southern soul-rooted intensity. Montoya’s voice is as expressive as his guitar.” – Washington Post \n“Just play what you feel\, be real about it\, and enjoy yourself. That’s what Albert Collins taught me\,” says the award-winning guitar virtuoso and soul-deep singer Coco Montoya. The self-taught\, left-handed Montoya mastered his craft under Collins’ tutelage. Incorporating lessons learned from his mentors\, the iconic Collins (for whom he originally drummed)\, and UK legend John Mayall\, Montoya puts his own stamp onto every song he performs.
