DESCRIPTION:8/1/25\nReserved Seating $45\nGA Standing $25.00\n7:30pm Doors\, 8:30pm Show\n18+\, Positive I.D. Required \nEven though Roomful of Blues’ lineup has changed over the years\, the band has always been one of the tightest\, most joyful blues ensembles in the world. Currently an eightpiece unit led by guitarist Chris Vachon\, the band has never sounded fresher or stronger. Singer DD Bastos brings her sweet and soulful vocals and adds another bright new dimension to the jazzy\, jump-blues musical roots. Their winning combination of jump\, swing\, blues\, R&B and soul remains their calling card\, as does their ability to fill the dance floor. Along with bassist John Turner\, trumpeter Chris Pratt\, drummer Mike Coffey\, keyboardist Jeff Ceasrine\, baritone and tenor saxophonist Craig Thomas\, and tenor and alto saxophonist Rich Lataille\, Roomful keeps on rockin’ year after year! \nRoomful of Blues\, according to DownBeat magazine\, “are in a class by themselves.” With their masterful combination of jumping\, horn-heavy\, hard-edged blues and R&B\, it’s no wonder why the great Count Basie called them “the hottest blues band I’ve ever heard.” Since 1967\, the group’s deeply rooted blend of swing\, rock ‘n’ roll\, jump\, blues and soul has earned it five Grammy Award nominations and a slew of other accolades\, including seven Blues Music Awards. With a non-stop performance schedule for over 55 years\, Roomful of Blues has earned critical\, popular and radio success and a legion of fans around the globe. including the prestigious DownBeat International Critics Poll for “Best Blues Band”. \nD.D. Bastos – Vocals DD is no stranger to the stage. She began singing in church at the age of 5 years old. Music has always been her passion. D.D. earned second chair in the All-Eastern Honors Ensemble representing Massachusetts which garnered her a scholarship. After college D.D. began performing with local bands throughout NE which led to the inception of her band DD & The Road Kings. Her work put her closely associated with the fraternity that is; Roomful of Blues\, Sugar Ray and the Bluetones\, The Broadcasters and the dozens of splinter groups who have branched off — shaping many other New England Blues bands. Certainly\, when three of them show up on D.D. and the Road Kings’ album Lover Bird\, which was well received by critics and fans alike\, there is a common thread that can be traced back to the ’60s Blues revival. D.D. is also a Choral Director in the public school system with 20+ years as a private music teacher. Her love of singing is what fuels her soulful and powerful performances. \nChris Vachon – Guitar Chris is a true multi-talent. His prowess as a guitar slinger is well documented\, and his strengths as a producer and songwriter grow from album to album. He produced the band’s nine most recent albums—There Goes the Neighborhood (1998)\, Watch You When You Go (2001)\, Live at Wolf Trap (2002) the Grammy nominated That’s Right! (2003)\, and Standing Room Only (2004)\, “Raisin’ A Ruckus” (2008)\, Hook\, Line & Sinker (2011)\, 45 Live (2013) and In A Roomful of Blues (2020) after co-producing all of Roomful’s other albums recorded in the ’90s. Chris’s songs— such as “Turn It On! Turn It Up!\,” “Running Out of Time\,” “She’ll Be So Fine\,” “Blue\, Blue World\,” “Dynamite” and “Keep on Rockin'” have become firm favorites in AAA and bluesradio formats\, bringing many new fans into the Roomful fold. \nJohn Turner – Upright and Electric Bass A veteran of the New England jazz scene\, bassist John Turner has performed and recorded with just about everybody–specifically the Either/Orchestra\,Charlie Kohlhase\, Scott Hamilton\, Roswell Rudd\, Lee Konitz\, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra\, members of Ornette Coleman’s band\, and Magic Dick-Jay Geils and Blues Time to name a few. John’s rock solid bottom is the essential element of the swing groove which Roomful is renowned for. \nJeff Ceasrine – PianoOrgan Originally from New York\, Jeff is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed throughout the New England area on keyboards\, rhythm guitar\, percussion\, and background vocals for over 25 years. He has worked in several long-standing acts in Rhode Island (blues\, jazz\, and swing) and has played many one-off gigs with various bands throughout the region. A frequent guest and on-call keyboard player with Roomful of Blues since 2008 (appearing on their recent “In a Roomful of Blues” CD)\, Jeff is comfortable with many different blues stylings. His influences include Pine Top Perkins\, Duke Ellington\, Fats Waller\, Lonnie Smith\, Otis Spann and Jimmy Smith..” \nMike Coffey – Drums From Newport Rhode Island Mike Coffey spent 20 years performing with the US Navy band. Upon retirement he performed with local blues artist Chris Stoval Brown and other wellknown blues artist in the Boston area. As part of a weekly Jazz series he has performed with Mike Renzi and Grey Sargent both members of Tony Bennett’s band and other renown jazz artist. He also performs with 50s doo wop group”The Diamonds” when they perform in New England. He studied with renown drum instructors Alan Dawson and Gary Chaffee. Known for his versatility and ability to enhance any group he performs with he been a welcome new member of Roomful of Blues. \nRich Lataille – Tenor and Alto Sax Rich joined Roomful in 1970 and was there at the beginning of what has become the most legendary horn section in contemporary blues. It was Rich’s interest in the swinging bands of the ’30s and ’40s that led Roomful to forge the distinctive sound that has become the band’s trademark. A man who can play both sides of the fence\, lyrically tender or blisteringly hot\, Rich has a big\, warm tone that is always jam-packed with feeling. His melodic inventiveness reflects the depth and breadth of his wide-ranging influences. Rich worked with various local and high- school bands before beginning his long-term relationship with Roomful. \nCraig Thomas – Baritone and Tenor Sax Craig was born in Washington DC and grew up in Maryland. At a young age Craig heard an early rock and roll instrumental “Wild Weekend” by the Rockin’ Rebels which inspired him to take up the saxophone. He moved to LA in his early 20s and played with the likes of Jim Messina of Loggins & Messina\, Les McCann\, Aretha Franklin\, the Stylistics\, Freda Payne\, Jermaine Jackson the R&B Bombers among many\, many others. Craig’s rich musical background is a welcome asset to the Roomful of Blues horn section. \nChristopher Pratt – Trumpet Chris is a native of Rhode Island and has performed throughout the New England area with various local and national acts for over forty years. Chris recently retired as a music teacher of 37 years from Warwick Rhode Island and continues to actively teach music at Roger Williams University. Chris’s pure melodic style\, infectious energy\, and love of the blues can be heard every time Roomful of Blues takes the stage!

SUMMARY:Captain Jack and the Strangers - Jack's Bday Bash!
DESCRIPTION:8/2/2025\n$32 Reserved Seats / $26 GA Standing\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required.\n7p doors / 8p show \nCaptain Jack & The Strangers\, comprised of six individuals hailing from Gloucester\, MA (45 min north of Boston) with over 30 years experience in music and performance. The band is fronted by 24 year old piano phenom\, Jack Favazza\, who brings a youthful exuberance to this classic American songbook. This group plays a wide catalogue of music from America’s own Piano Man\, Billy Joel\, spanning his entire musical career from the 70’s\, 80’s\, and 90’s. Playing both well known hits\, alongside of b-side fan favorites\, there are surely songs to appease any audience member. \nWith a long standing passion for the music of Billy Joel\, the band formed in late 2022\, after founding members had seen a performance of Billy at the legendary Fenway Park in Boston\, MA during the summer of that same year. That performance solidified the decision to perform Billy Joel’s music to as many people as possible. Gloucester has a long history of talented artists\, and Captain Jack & The Strangers is no different. A local “supergroup” of musicians from well known acts such as Groove Therapy\, The Spynz\, Mystery Meat\, and the Neon 90’s have formed this group to bring you the high energy\, soft somber moments\, and everything in between that Billy Joel is so well known for. Listening to any song at a show will surely invoke your favorite memories and emotions when you hear a specific Billy Joel song done in a way that only Captain Jack & The Strangers can do.

DESCRIPTION:8/13/25\nReserved Seating $34.50 – $39.50\nGA Standing $24.50\n7:00pm Doors\, 8:00pm Show\n18+\, Positive I.D. Required \nTHE DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND \nCelebrating over 45 years since their founding in 1977\, the GRAMMY Award-winning New Orleans-based Dirty Dozen Brass Band has taken the traditional foundation of brass band music and incorporated it into a blend of genres\, including bebop jazz\, funk and R&B/soul. This unique sound\, described by the band as a “musical gumbo”\, has allowed the Dirty Dozen to tour across five continents and more than thirty countries\, record twelve studio albums and collaborate with a range of artists from Modest Mouse to Widespread Panic to Norah Jones. Forty-five plus years later\, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world-famous music machine whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances. \nRoger Lewis – Baritone Sax/Vocals\nGregory Davis – Trumpet/Vocals\nKirk Joseph – Sousaphone Trevarri\nHuff-Boone – Tenor Sax/Vocals\nStephen Walker – Trombone/Vocals\nJulian Addison – Drums\nTakeshi Shimmura – Guitar \nTHE HISTORY OF THE DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND In 1977\, The Dirty Dozen Social Aid and Pleasure Club in New Orleans began showcasing a traditional Crescent City brass band. It was a joining of two proud\, but antiquated\, traditions at the time: social aid and pleasure clubs dated back over a century to a time when black southerners could rarely afford life insurance\, and the clubs would provide proper funeral arrangements. Brass bands\, early predecessors of jazz as we know it\, would often follow the funeral procession playing somber dirges\, then once the family of the deceased was out of earshot\, burst into jubilant dance tunes as casual onlookers danced in the streets. By the late ’70s\, few of either existed. The Dirty Dozen Social Aid and Pleasure Club decided to assemble this group as a house band\, and over the course of these early gigs\, the seven-member ensemble adopted the venue’s name: The Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

SUMMARY:DJ Logic and Friends with special guest G. Love
DESCRIPTION:8/14/25\nReserved Seating $59.50\nStanding $39.50\n6:30pm Doors\, 7:30pm Show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required \nDJ Logic \nThe theorem of turntablist as musician has been long proven in the capable hands of DJ LOGIC\, whom with jazz as his foundation has become a wax innovator by crossing genres and mixing his sound across the map. As one of the world’s most accomplished turntablist’s\, DJ LOGIC is widely credited for introducing jazz into the hip – hop realms and is considered by most as a highly respected session musician and an innovative bandleader.\nSince his emergence in the early nineties amidst the Bronx hip-hop scene\, the New York City based deejay has been amassing a veritable mountain of collaborations\, including full fledged bands with members of BLUES TRAVELER (THE JOHN POPPER PROJECT FEATURING DJ LOGIC)\, a trio with STEVE MOLITZ & FREEKBASS (HEADTRONICS)\, a jazz project with Georgian prodigy BEKA GOCHIASVILI\, to being a member of the Grammy winning Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra’s The Offense of the Drum album. He also has a long list of other collaborations with artists ranging from the likes of: MEDESKI MARTIN AND WOOD\, CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE\, O.A.R.\, CARLY SIMON\, MARCUS MILLER\, JACK JOHNSON\, VERNON REID\, WARREN HAYNES\, CHARLIE HUNTER\, JACK DeJOHNETTE\, JOHN MAYER\, BEN HARPER\, MOS DEF and THE ROOTS\, to name but a few.\nDJ LOGIC and his role as an electronic-music ambassador keeps him at the top of his game. Whether the scratch artist instructs tablas to flirt with drum ‘n’ bass (such as on his NINA SIMONE and BILLY HOLIDAY remixes found on Sony Legacy’s Remixed and Reimagined volumes) \, or while meshing free styling MC’s with Afro-Cuban rhythms (such as on ‘Share Worldwide Funk’ – a remix produced for JACK DeJOHNETTE and Golden Beams Collected\, Volume 1 ) or while remixing tracks for rock bands such as MOON TAXI\, LOGIC can always be found paying homage to his predecessors while contributing his vision to the deejay genre. \nG. Love \nG. Love & Special Sauce is an American Hip-Hop Blues band known for its unique fusion of hip-hop\, blues\, funk\, and soul. Formed in 1993 in Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania\, the band originally featured Garrett Dutton\, aka G. Love\, as the lead vocalist and guitarist\, Jeffrey Clemens on drums\, and Jim Prescott on bass. The trio quickly gained attention for their laid-back\, groovy style and G. Love’s unique vocal delivery\, blending rap-like spoken word with bluesy singing. Their debut self-titled album\, G. Love & Special Sauce\, was released in 1994 on Epic Records and included the hit single “Cold Beverage\,” which became popular on alternative radio stations and MTV\, solidifying their presence in the music scene. The band’s style has been described as a mix of “slacker blues” and “alternative hip-hop\,” as they frequently incorporate elements of 90s hip-hop beats with classic blues rhythms. Over the years\, G. Love & Special Sauce has released numerous albums\, including Coast to Coast Motel (1995)\, Yeah\, It’s That Easy (1997)\, The Electric Mile (2001) and the GRAMMY nominated The Juice (2020). Their sound evolved to include more soul\, R&B\, and rock influences\, though they retained their laid-back vibe and clever lyrical play. Their 2014 album Sugar saw a reunion of the original lineup after several years\, and they continued to tour and produce music with a loyal fan base. Known for their energetic live performances\, G. Love & Special Sauce has played at festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Garrett Dutton also frequently collaborates with other artists\, including Jack Johnson\, with whom he shares a similar vibe\, and has released solo projects that dive deeper into his blues influences. G. Love & Special Sauce remains a beloved name in the music scene\, blending genres in a way that feels fresh and authentic. \nRay Paczkowski\nKeyboards\, Trey Anastasio Band \nBen Atkind\nDrummer\, formerly of Goose \nNate Edgar\nBassist The Nth Power

SUMMARY:VERSE/VISUAL 2025
DESCRIPTION:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE\n“VERSE/VISUAL”: A Free and Open to All Weekend of Art Inspired by Art returns for its seventh season in Ipswich and Haverhill.\nwww.versevisual.com\nCynthia August\, Founder and Director 978-998-2228 cynthia@cynthiaaugust.com\nKathryn Zelkowitz\, Producer and Exhibition Coordinator 978-810-6811 kazelkowitz@gmail.com\nIpswich\, Massachusetts\nStep into a vibrant and lively conversation about inspiration at VERSE/VISUAL\, a free community art festival happening August 15-17 at EBSCO Hall\, 5 Peatfield Street\, Ipswich MA and September 26-28 at the Haverhill Art Walk.\nSeventy-four visionary artists have been paired to create brand-new works inspired by each other’s previous pieces—resulting in a dazzling display of artistic dialogue across mediums.\nBeyond the gallery walls\, the weekend will pulse with live music\, hands-on community art projects\, and opportunities for connection and creativity for all ages.\nDon’t miss your chance to witness how art sparks art—and find your own inspiration.\nVERSE/VISUAL is a collaborative art experience where inspiration becomes the medium.\nAt its core\, VERSE/VISUAL is a creative exchange: each participating artist submits a completed work of any medium – a painting\, a poem\, a short film\, a sculpture\, a song\, a performance piece\, maybe even a table! – which is presented in the exhibition for its own artistic merit. But that’s just the beginning. Each of these works is then given anonymously to another participating artist\, who creates an entirely new piece in response.\nThe result is a dynamic pairing of “inspiration” and “exploration” works of two creations in conversation. Sometimes the link between the works is direct and visible\, echoing a color palette\, a phrase\, or a material. Other times\, it’s conceptual\, abstract\, even surprising\, like a meditation on theme\, emotion\, or form that reveals the breadth of interpretation and imagination.\nTogether\, these artistic pairings create an ecosystem of influence\, connection\, and transformation. The final exhibition is more than a showcase of individual talent. It is a living map of creative lineage. Viewers are invited into a rich\, layered experience: to trace the threads of inspiration\, to reflect on how ideas evolve\, and to witness the many ways artists see\, feel\, and respond to the world and to each other.\nVERSE/VISUAL is not just a show. It’s a journey. A dialogue. An invitation into the heart of creative process.\nAdmission is free. All are welcome.\nVERSE/VISUAL IPSWICH\nAugust 15-17\, 2025\nEBSCO Hall\, 5 Peatfield Street\, Ipswich\, MA\nFriday\, August 15th Opening Reception 6:30pm – 9pm\nSaturday\, August 16th 10am – 6pm\nMusic by Chuck Doran and Friends 2pm – 4:30pm\nSunday\, August 17th 10am – 4pm\nMusic by Mile Lane 11am – 1pm\nMini VERSE/VISUAL experience for all ages – try it yourself!\nVERSE/VISUAL 2025 is made possible in part through a grant from Mass Cultural and is sponsored by the Institution for Savings.

SUMMARY:Heavy Metal Horns - Live at The Cut Album Release Party
DESCRIPTION:8/15/25\nReserved Seating $45\nGA Standing $30\n7:00pm doors / 8:00pm show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required \nThe Heavy Metal Horns came onto the Boston music scene in the late 80’s and thrived throughout the 90’s. They quickly became one of top bands in the city – winning awards\, selling out shows and playing major jazz festivals across the country. The horn section played on Extreme’s “Stop The World” tour in 1993. This led to being signed to the Japanese record label Polystar Records. The band toured the U.S. over the next five years and continued to play until early 2000. \nIn 2016 the legendary club Johnny D’s announced it was closing its doors. The club asked if the Heavy Metal Horns could play a show as one of the clubs most popular acts. This show was amazing and the audience said we had to keep playing. Every year since 2016 the band plays a show. \nThe Heavy Metal Horns sold out big boat cruises\, The Cabot Theater in Beverly\, MA three times. Last year the band performed at The Cut Live in Gloucester\, MA. This show was recorded and “Heavy Metal Horns Live From The Cut” will be released in August 2025. The band is always adding new music. \nThe new release features new songs from Thaddedus Hogarth\, Peter Calo and Felix Rentschler. The Heavy Metal Horns are still alive and kicking after all these years and sounding great. Check us out on SOSS Records.

SUMMARY:Robert Ellis Orrall with Fun Bucket After Party
DESCRIPTION:8/22/25\nReserved Seating $30\nGA Standing $15.00\n6:30pm Doors\, 7:30pm Show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required \nWhen RCA Records signed Robert Ellis Orrall in 1980 he had his dream band: Kook Lawry on guitar\, Don Walden on bass and David Stefanelli on the drums. 44 years later they are back on the road and in the studio. Part of a New Wave of Boston artists that included The Stompers\, Jon Butcher Axis\, Til Tuesday and The Neighborhoods\, REO rocked legendary venues like The Rat\, The Paradise and The Orpheum Theater. The band’s critically acclaimed albums\, “Fixation”\, “Contain Yourself”\, and “Special Pain” were recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with producer Roger Bechirian (Elvis Costello\, Squeeze)\, and supported with tours opening for U2\, The Kinks\, Psychedelic Furs and countless others. And their Top 40 smash hit with Carlene Carter “I Couldn’t Say No” still stands as an 80’s classic. When Robert moved to Nashville to write and produce (Taylor Swift\, Reba McEntire\, Lindsay Lohan)\, Kook\, Don and David lent their talents to artists like Peter Wolf (J. Geils)\, Barry Goudreau & Brad Delp (Boston)\, Carlene Carter\, Brian Maes\, Nick Lowe and many more. Robert Ellis Orrall has had over 350 songs (and five #1 songs) cut around the world and soundtracked in TV and movies llke “The Bourne Identity”\, “Hannah Montana” and “Freaky Friday”. He produced tracks for Love and Theft\, Cake Bake Betty and Taylor Swift’s 10X Platinum debut and followup EP. The band regrouped to reminisce\, tour and record “467 Surf And Gun Club”\, an album John Hiatt called “absolutely joyful”\, Michael McDonald called “relevant and timeless’\, and said American Songwriter “The melodies\, counter melodies\, and killer performances constitute a unique blend of ‘60s-pop-meets-modernindie songwriting.” The band is touring from now to forever\, playing songs from all of their albums and albums to come\, listed below. The old cliche “Let’s get the band back together” has come to life with these four best friends playing their best music.
