SUMMARY:In Bloom Listening Series featuring: CFG\, Hayley Reardon and Judit Neddermann
DESCRIPTION:3/8/2024\n18+ under 18 must be accompanied by a parent / 7:00p doors / 8:00p show \nFeaturing CFG | Hayley Reardon | Judit Neddermann \nCFG\nCFG is a multi faceted recording artist and full time musician in the North Shore who’s been active for the past 7 years in the local and regional music scene. From reggae riddims with former band Pier Ave to the summertime hip hop melody of his latest single ‘Find My Island’\, CFG brings a vibe and energy that is a perfect fit amongst your favorite good vibes artists. \nHAYLEY REARDON\nHayley Reardon is a critically acclaimed singer/songwriter and a storyteller in the truest sense of the word. Her songs serve as postcards from an artist brave enough to take the road less traveled. Reardon dove head first into music at the young age of 15\, and has spent much of the past decade writing\, recording and performing music around the world.\nRaised in a coastal Massachusetts town north of Boston\, Reardon spent three years based in Nashville and the past six years carrying her songs and stories all over the globe — including a six-month artist-in-residency stay in Dachau\, Germany — gathering experiences\, inspiration and soulful connections. Her ever-deepening music carries a lyrical and melodic weight beyond her years\, being described as “brilliantly moving folk/pop with a lyrical depth and soul” (Performer Magazine) and “a melancholy little masterpiece” (American Songwriter Magazine). No Depression writes “Reardon is truly a treasure.”\nHer latest release Changes (July 20\, 2023) is the continuation of a journey that began with Reardon’s 2022 release In the Good Light. Both projects were recorded in Barcelona with Catalan collaborators Pau Figueres (producer and one of Spain’s premiere instrumentalists) and Aniol Bestit Collellimir (recording engineer). The title track on Changes features an original\, bilingual duet with Catalan sensation Judit Neddermann\, with whom Reardon formed a deep musical bond during her time in Barcelona and who appears on the EP courtesy of Universal Music Spain.\nReardon’s songs have found a home on Spotify Editorial Playlists like Fresh Folk\, Folk Pop\, Morning Coffee and Today’s Singer/Songwriters\, as well as Apple Music’s Acoustic Chill and New in Singer/Songwriter. She totes over 6 million streams on Apple Music alone and has shared the stage with renowned artists including Lori McKenna\, Rodney Crowell and Anaïs Mitchell\, among others. \nJUDIT NEDDERMANN\nBarcelona\, 1991. A singer and a composer\, she has released five solo albums and a joint album with her sister Meritxell Neddermann. She has collaborated\, recording or sharing the stage\, with artists such as Joan Manuel Serrat\, Alejandro Sanz\, Pedro Guerra\, MARO\, Noa\, Jorge Drexler\, Andrés Suárez\, Rozalén\, Miguel Poveda\, Macaco\, and among others. She is a recognized singer in Catalonia\, two years ago she started singing in new countries such as Mexico\, Argentina\, Uruguay and Italy.\nShe is the composer of the original score for the play ‘When I sing\, mountains dance’\, a play based on the novel of the same name by Irene Solà. For ten years she was the singer of The Gramophone Allstars project\, led by Genís Bou\, with whom she recorded five albums. She has also had a long and close collaboration with the pianist Clara Peya\, the joint project with the Quartet Brossa “Viatge d’hivern” and his participation in Coetus.\nShe has been awarded a Max Award\, a Butaca Award\, two Enderrock Awards\, the Miquel Martí i Pol Award and a Descobertes Award.\nShe was born in 1991 into a family of musicians that has always supported her\, and she grew up in Vilassar de Mar.

SUMMARY:Saturday Brunch with StratCat Willie Hayes
DESCRIPTION:StratCat Willie Hayes is an old-school bluesman who has been writing and playing for over fifty years. Some of his earliest influences includedT-Bone Walker\, MikeBloomfield \,B.B. King\, Johnny Winter\, and Duke Robillard. In 1995\, after several years of gigging in local clubs and fronting many cover bands\, his affinity for and love of the blues led to him to form a band that would allow him to focus exclusively on the blues.“Blues Plate Special” was a harmonica driven blues band that allowed him to focus on songwriting\, while covering groups ranging from Little Charlie & the Nightcats to the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. With Blues Plate Special\, he worked hard to keep the blues alive in theSouthernTier of New York\, recording three studio albums along with one live album. In 2019\, in an effort to explore other styles of the blues\, he pulled several players together that had been with him for many of those fifty-plus years to form “StratCatWillie & the Strays”.In 2020\, armed with thirteen original tunes\, he took the Strays into the studio. The result was“On The Prowl”\,which debuted on SiriusXM BLUESVILLE’s “Rack ofBlues” and remained on the Roots Music Report charts for six consecutive months\, finishing #52on theRMR“Top 200 Contemporary Blues Album Chart for 2021”.Following up on that success\, late in 2021 StratCat Willie brought the same players together to record“On A Hot Tin Roof”.Comprised of twelve new original tunes written entirely during the pandemic\, the music not only reflects the darkness of the times\, it also reflects the “Good News of the Blues” and the joy of classic swing/jump blues by tapping into the rich sound of a backing horn section and soulful background vocals.Over his fifty plus year career\, StratCat Willie has shared the stage with many musicians across theUnited States\, fromNew Orleans\, where he has jammed with legends like Walter “Wolfman” Washington\, to San Francisco\, Memphis\, and Nashville\, always looking to meet and play with different folks. StratCat Willie not only enjoys the spontaneity of a good blues jam\, he revels in the opportunity to bring new players together and “make a statement”.Continuing the influences of the old masters\, his swinging\, upbeat style has been described as “always a party”and“uniquely his”\, while always paying tribute to and recognizing the African-American men and women who gave us this amazing art form.

SUMMARY:Charlie Parr with The Wildmans
DESCRIPTION:3/13/2024\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required. 7:30p Doors / 8:30p Show \nIn the music of Charlie Parr\, there is a sincere conviction and earnest drive to create. The Minnesota-born guitarist\, songwriter\, and interpreter of traditional music has released 19 albums over two decades and has been known to perform up to 275 shows a year. Parr is a folk troubadour in the truest sense: taking to the road between shows\, writing and rewriting songs as he plays\, fueled by a belief that music is eternal and cannot be claimed or adequately explained. The bluesman poet pulls closely from the sights and sounds around him\, his lyrical craftsmanship built by his influences. The sounds from his working-class upbringing—including Folkways legends such as Lead Belly and Woody Guthrie—imbue Parr’s music with stylistic echoes of blues and folk icons of decades past. Parr sees himself merely as a continuer of a folk tradition: “I feel like I stand on a lot of big shoulders\,” he said in an interview. “I hope that I’ve brought a little bit of myself to the music.” \nThe Wildmans come from the hills of Floyd\, Virginia\, in the heart of the Appalachian mountain music tradition. From campsite jamming at festivals and fiddler’s conventions and a college level music education comes the foundation for musical exploration that sets this group apart\, taking the audience on a musical journey that reflects the growth and passion of these talented musicians.\nHaving shared the stage with talents such as Bela Fleck\, The Steep Canyon Rangers\, The Steel Wheels\, Danny Knicely\, Sammy Shelor\, Sierra Hull\, Billy Strings\, and more.\, these young musicians are making their way in the American stringband scene.

SUMMARY:Shemekia Copeland with opener Peter Parcek Trio
DESCRIPTION:3/16/2024\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required. 8:00p doors / 8:30p show \n“Shemekia Copeland is the greatest blues singer of her generation.” –The Washington Post \n“Shemekia Copeland has established herself as one of the leading blues artists of our time.” –NPR Music \nAward-winning blues\, soul and Americana singer Shemekia Copeland possesses one of the most instantly recognizable and deeply soulful roots music voices of our time. She is beloved worldwide for the fearlessness\, honesty and humor of her revelatory music\, as well as for delivering each song she performs with unmatched passion. Copeland — winner of the 2021 Blues Music Award for B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year— connects with her audience on an intensely personal level\, taking them with her on what The Wall Street Journal calls “a consequential ride” of “bold and timely blues.” NPR Music says Shemekia sings with “punchy defiance and potent conviction.” The Houston Chronicle describes her songs as “resilient pleas for a kinder tomorrow.” \nPeter Parcek’s daring\, incendiary and soulful style is a distinctive hybrid. He weaves rock\, gypsy-jazz\, country\, folk\, and blues– especially blues– into a tapestry of melody\, harmony and daredevil solos that push those styles to their limits without sacrificing the warmth of his own personality. \nPeter calls his approach “soul guitar\,” an appellation that alludes to his playing’s depth of feeling and character\, as well as its deepest roots in classic American music. But Peter’s sensibilities are equally attuned to the future.

SUMMARY:Eric Hutchinson
DESCRIPTION:Singer/songwriter Eric Hutchinson is feeling nostalgic as he prepares to spend 2023\, and into 2024\, celebrating the 15th anniversary of his debut album\, Sounds Like This. “It’s a special record for me – one that changed my life\, my career\, and introduced my music to a new audience I could only have dreamt of\,” the Takoma Park\, MD native reflects. To commemorate the anniversary\, Eric has announced that he will be playing shows all year long\, performing the album in its entirety. He’s also revealed that Sounds Like This will finally be available on vinyl for the first time ever. Furthering the deep-dive into his past\, Eric also released a new single\, “Sad Songs”\, a forgotten pop tune he wrote and performed regularly on tour in 2008 but never got the chance to record until now. \n“I’m thrilled to spend 2023 reflecting on how my life and the world has changed in 15 years\,” Eric says. “I hope people will join me on the trip down memory lane. Maybe bring a long-lost college friend to one of my concerts\, or give Sounds Like This a re-listen for the first time in forever and remember what life was like back in 2008 – when Barack Obama was elected president\, BlackBerrys were all the rage\, and watching Netflix meant getting little red DVD packages in the mail.” \nSounds Like This ended up being a chart-topping album released by Warner Bros. Records\, but it almost never happened. Just before Eric recorded those songs\, he says he was a frustrated kid who was seriously considering quitting music. “I had spent several years toiling away on the road\, playing tragically low-attended shows\, and recording several failed albums that were not ready for prime time\,” Eric remembers. But as discouraged as he was at the time\, Eric says he hated the idea of telling his friends and family that he had quit music. “I decided to dig down deep and make one last-ditch attempt to record a professional debut that lived up to the legacies of my musical heroes like Stevie Wonder\, The Beatles\, Paul Simon\, and Michael Jackson\,” Eric recalls. “I went for broke\, literally\, to capture the music that I was hearing in my head – the songs that represented me at that time. I could never have imagined where those songs would take me.” \nToday\, Eric is a seasoned musician and touring artist who’s released eight albums\, performed in all 50 states and experimented with diverse kinds of musical genres like pop\, folk\, reggae\, alternative rock\, and jazz. Still\, more often than not\, Eric says if people are familiar with his music\, they know the songs from Sounds Like This. “I love getting to hear stories from so many people who remember growing up with the music\,” Eric says. “I’ll meet people and they’ll tell me about watching the music video for “Rock & Roll” on VH1 while getting ready for school\, or listening to “Food Chain” on a burned mix CD that an older sister made to celebrate getting her driver’s license\, or singing “Ok\, It’s Alright With Me” in their college a capella group. I’m proud of this album I made many years ago\, but I’m even more gratified by the part my music got to play in so many other people’s lives. I’m hoping I get to celebrate Sounds Like This with all those people on this tour.”
