SUMMARY:Catie Curtis
DESCRIPTION:For more than three decades\, Catie Curtis has occupied a singular place in American songwriting. \nLong before authenticity became a marketing strategy\, Curtis was practicing a quieter art: making songs that feel like conversations\, invitations into a shared emotional space where listeners recognize themselves. \nOver the course of fifteen albums and thousands of performances\, her career has taken her from Boston’s vibrant folk scene to stages across the country\, including Carnegie Hall and the White House. Yet Curtis’s enduring appeal has never rested on accolades alone. It comes from a rare ability to transform private experience into something shared\, creating songs that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant. \nAs Mary Gauthier says\, “Catie Curtis is an artist whose songs unarm me\, move me to put down my defenses and just be with them.” Whether performing in a theater\, a performing arts center\, or an intimate house concert\, Curtis creates the feeling of a gathering rather than a show\, grounded in warmth\, humor\, and genuine connection. \nWriting with an observant eye and a compassionate heart\, Curtis finds meaning in ordinary moments. Mary Chapin Carpenter has praised her “remarkable ability to reveal the spiritual dimensions of ordinary life\,” a quality that has made her music a companion through love\, loss\, family\, and change. \nHer songs have also contributed to the story of LGBTQ visibility in American culture. In her anthem “Radical\,” Curtis sang\, “I’m not being radical when I kiss you\,” offering listeners a vision of love expressed with confidence and grace. Throughout her career\, she has remained committed to telling the truth as she sees it and creating songs that accompany listeners through every season of life. \nThat commitment to connection extends beyond music. In recent years\, Curtis became a licensed marriage and family therapist while continuing to write and perform\, an evolution that feels like a natural extension of the work she has always done: listening deeply and helping people find their way toward one another. \nHer newest album\, C’mon Butterfly\, embraces change with curiosity and hope. Drawing inspiration from the natural world\, Curtis explores themes of transformation\, interdependence\, and gratitude\, finding wisdom in butterflies\, changing seasons\, and everyday beauty. Three decades into a remarkable career\, Catie Curtis continues to do what she has always done best: create songs that illuminate\, comfort\, and connect.

SUMMARY:Puss N Boots w/ Norah Jones\, Sasha Dobson & Catherine Popper
DESCRIPTION:IN 2008\, NORAH JONES\, SASHA DOBSON\, AND CATHERINE POPPER FORMED PUSS N BOOTS. \nInitially it was a vehicle for Jones and Dobson to play music together and try new things\, with Popper joining on bass shortly after. The trio played various New York clubs\, with a repertoire anchored in Americana\, country\, folk\, pop and rock. The band became an outlet for Jones\, Dobson and Popper to switch instruments\, and allowed them to showcase a different side of themselves than in their various solo and side projects. \nIn 2013\, some five years after the group began playing\, they signed with Blue Note Records and set out to assemble their debut record. Comprised of originals and covers\, studio recordings and live performances\, that debut was called No Fools\, No Fun. Released in the summer of 2014\, it was supported by a tour of the U.S. \nIn 2019\, the trio took the stage at the MusiCares charity event honoring Person of the Year Award recipient Dolly Parton\, and performed Parton’s “The Grass Is Blue”. Later that year Jones\, Dobson\, and Popper released their holiday album Dear Santa\, followed by their 2nd full length album Sister in 2020.

Currently an eightpiece unit led by guitarist Chris Vachon\, the band has never sounded fresher or stronger. Singer DD Bastos brings her sweet and soulful vocals and adds another bright new dimension to the jazzy\, jump-blues musical roots. Their winning combination of jump\, swing\, blues\, R&B and soul remains their calling card\, as does their ability to fill the dance floor. Along with bassist John Turner\, trumpeter Chris Pratt\, drummer Mike Coffey\, keyboardist Jeff Ceasrine\, baritone and tenor saxophonist Craig Thomas\, and tenor and alto saxophonist Rich Lataille\, Roomful keeps on rockin’ year after year! \nRoomful of Blues\, according to DownBeat magazine\, “are in a class by themselves.” With their masterful combination of jumping\, horn-heavy\, hard-edged blues and R&B\, it’s no wonder why the great Count Basie called them “the hottest blues band I’ve ever heard.” Since 1967\, the group’s deeply rooted blend of swing\, rock ‘n’ roll\, jump\, blues and soul has earned it five Grammy Award nominations and a slew of other accolades\, including seven Blues Music Awards. With a non-stop performance schedule for over 55 years\, Roomful of Blues has earned critical\, popular and radio success and a legion of fans around the globe. including the prestigious DownBeat International Critics Poll for “Best Blues Band”. \nD.D. Bastos – Vocals DD is no stranger to the stage. She began singing in church at the age of 5 years old. Music has always been her passion. D.D. earned second chair in the All-Eastern Honors Ensemble representing Massachusetts which garnered her a scholarship. After college D.D. began performing with local bands throughout NE which led to the inception of her band DD & The Road Kings. Her work put her closely associated with the fraternity that is; Roomful of Blues\, Sugar Ray and the Bluetones\, The Broadcasters and the dozens of splinter groups who have branched off — shaping many other New England Blues bands. Certainly\, when three of them show up on D.D. and the Road Kings’ album Lover Bird\, which was well received by critics and fans alike\, there is a common thread that can be traced back to the ’60s Blues revival. D.D. is also a Choral Director in the public school system with 20+ years as a private music teacher. Her love of singing is what fuels her soulful and powerful performances. \nChris Vachon – Guitar Chris is a true multi-talent. His prowess as a guitar slinger is well documented\, and his strengths as a producer and songwriter grow from album to album. He produced the band’s nine most recent albums—There Goes the Neighborhood (1998)\, Watch You When You Go (2001)\, Live at Wolf Trap (2002) the Grammy nominated That’s Right! (2003)\, and Standing Room Only (2004)\, “Raisin’ A Ruckus” (2008)\, Hook\, Line & Sinker (2011)\, 45 Live (2013) and In A Roomful of Blues (2020) after co-producing all of Roomful’s other albums recorded in the ’90s. SUMMARY:Delta Generators with Julie Rhodes
DESCRIPTION:Real music by real people\, played live and recorded live. This best embodies the philosophy of\nestablished Boston band Delta Generators and their approach for their latest record ON & ON.\nIn an industry where technology has become the standard and intelligence has become artificial\,\nDelta Generators are keeping it real and will continue to do so going forward. All the songs on\nthis record were written\, arranged and rehearsed over a period of eight days and then recorded in\ntwo days at Power Station N.E. in Waterford\, CT by Evan Bakke\, best known for his work with\nWarren Haynes and Prince. The idea was to get together\, play and when something feels right\,\nwork it! No preconceived ideas as to what it should be. A journey of liberation\, inspiration and\nperspiration. Yeah\, Blues is the vehicle\, but their lifelong love of rock music is the fuel that\npowers it. \nBrothers Charlie and Rick O’Neal\, on guitar and bass respectively\, have been playing together\nsince their teenage years. Most notably as members of Benjamin Orr’s band\, former singer and\nbass player with The Cars. Sometimes they would go off and do other projects\, Charlie toured\nwith UK band Must and Rick played in Boston guitar hero Johnny A’s band\, but inevitably they\nwould play together again and again. Charlie had been playing in rock bands throughout\nhis early years\, but he was always a huge fan of Blues guitar. He spent years honing his abilities\nby playing along with records. When the opportunity presented itself for a Blues driven side\nproject\, he was all in. That moment altered his future\, placing him in the position to celebrate his\npassion for personal heroes like Elmore James\, Freddie King and Albert Collins. \nWhen the ensemble was first conceived\, a lover of R&B and Soul named Craig Rawding took\nthe mic as the original front man. Charlie O’Neal brought on his brother Rick as the bassist. And \nin 2007\, the Delta Generators were born. The initial drummer had to bail after a few months\, so\nup-and-coming percussionist Jeff Armstrong was brought into the fold. By 2008\, it was no\nlonger a side project\, and they captured the win at the Boston Blues Challenge. They went on to \nMemphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge where they almost took the top spot. \nFrom there the band went on to forge a solid place in the Boston Blues scene. They went on to\nrecord four records before Craig decided to leave the band in 2016. Enter Brian Templeton\, a\nfixture in the local scene since 1991. His band The Radio Kings had already recorded for two\nlabels\, and he had toured all across the U.S. and Europe with them and as a solo artist. A\nconsummate showman and lover of the spirit\, Brian was rooted in the rock music of his youth\nand was already a seasoned Blues Man. It was a perfect fit and the rest as they say is history.\n“Brian lifted the DGs to a new level with his showmanship and drive\,” says Charlie\, “I don’t\nthink the band would have continued if Brian hadn’t joined.” Brother Rick continues\, “Besides\nhis top-notch vocals\, Brian brought a powerful stage presence and killer harmonica playing to\nthe mix and his lyric writing is in a class all by itself.” \nThe new album is anything but vanilla. After all these years together\, the quartet has a voice and\nswagger that is all their own. The new repertoire is a pure collaboration that has captured what\nmakes this union of these four musicians so organic and pure in its creation. Drummer Jeff\nArmstrong shares\, “Unlike the previous record\, which was more of a compilation of great songs\,\nthis new record stands in itself as a complete cohesive work.” Guitarist Charlie O’Neal offers \, \n“ON & ON perfectly captures the live spirit of the band and is by far sonically superior to any of our previous albums.” \nDelta Generators love writing and recording but they live to play live. Making a connection with\ntheir fans is the most important part of it. As Templeton says. “Making a spiritual bond with the\npeople\, our fans\, is why we do what we do. There really is no other reason.”
