SUMMARY:Essex Ensemble benefit concert for Newbury Food Pantry at Maudslay Arts Centeraud
DESCRIPTION:The Essex Ensemble\, directed by local resident and pantry volunteer Andrew Price and featuring top-tier musicians from several of Boston’s most highly regarded orchestras\, will perform on Sunday\, August 25th  from 6 to 8PM at the beautiful Maudslay Arts Center to benefit the First Parish Newbury Food Pantry’s mission to end food insecurity in the region. Enjoy a picnic while you settle in for a wonderful evening of music !\nThe First Parish Newbury Food Pantry is the largest all-volunteer food pantry in the greater Newburyport area serving the communities of Newbury\, Newburyport\, Byfield\, West Newbury\, Salisbury\, Amesbury\, Rowley\, Ipswich\, and Georgetown. They fulfill orders for over 700 people each Friday. They also manage pantries in local schools to reduce hunger and improve success in the classroom.\nMaudslay Arts Center is situated within the lush landscape of Maudslay State Park at  95 Curzon Mill Rd\, Newburyport. Patrons are encouraged to bring a picnic. There will be non-alcoholic beverages and desserts available. Reserved table seats are $50 per person and private tables can be reserved for the number of people in your party. Lawn tickets ( bring your own blanket or chair) are $30. Children under 12 are free. Whether you choose to sit at a patio table or on a blanket under the stars\, every seat offers excellent acoustics.\nDoors open at 5:30PM. Parking at Maudslay Arts Center is limited to vehicles with handicapped stickers. Regular parking is at the main Maudslay State Park lot which has free parking after 5:30 PM. Their involvement in the original “Live Aid” concert and the groundbreaking “We Are The World” charity recording have further established them as legendary artists\, who have personally and through their music\, stood the test of time. \nSince embarking on a solo career in 1999\, John has recorded seven solo albums: Phu Phunk Shui/ 1000 Miles of Life/ Mississippi Mile/ The Bluesville Sessions/ Good Road To Follow/ Arkansas and Live from Nashville with the Good Road Band. In addition\, his 2017 autobiography “Change of Season” released by St. Martin’s press\, became an Amazon best seller. \nIn 2023 he released a series of new original digital singles distributed by “The Orchard” in a wide variety of eclectic styles as well as penning another series of songs for the feature film “Gringa”. His most recent recording project is titled “Folk-esque” and is scheduled for release in early 2024. He is currently performing an intimate series of solo acoustic shows called an “Evening of Songs and Stories” in America and around the world. \nIn 2021\, John and his wife Aimee partnered with the streaming broadcast service NugsTV and co-producer Drive Entertainment Group to create a virtual celebration of stories and songs called “OATES SONG FEST 7908“. Inspired by a live series of shows that they created in 2010 at the historic Wheeler Opera House in Aspen\, CO. “OATES SONG FEST 7908” became a free streaming concert with all donations and proceeds going to FEEDINGAMERICA.ORG. The broadcast featured an all-star roster of artists all of whom have volunteered their songs and performances to help families without food across the nation\, and as a result\, over 450\,000 meals were provided for American families. \nIn 2022\, John became the international ambassador for “MOVEMBER” the men’s health initiative and released a new original song called “Pushing A Rock” with a theme of overcoming life’s challenges and struggles. Oates continues to be involved in his passion for automobiles and motorsport with his collection of sports cars and active participation in concours events and the Porsche Club of America. Reset Button has been performing their unique\, fun\, and upbeat brass band arrangements at breweries\, festivals\, and events since 2021. \nGloucester Student Band (GSB) is a 501c3 nonprofit group formed in 2022 with the mission to offer practice and performance opportunities to student musicians in grades 5-12. GSB is separate and independent from the school district and school band programs. DESCRIPTION:Hailed as one of the finest interpreters of the Sinatra sound in the world\, Rhode Island native Michael Dutra has been performing his tribute to Frank Sinatra across the nation—from Las Vegas to Miami to Boston—since 2002. Boston Globe columnist Wesley Morris remarked that “his sound is velour to Sinatra’s velvet. You really can’t tell the difference.” Ron Della Chiesa of WPLM Boston Radio and Sinatra Guru adds\, “Michael literally channels Sinatra.” \nMost of Michael’s influence comes from his dad. “Dad was always singing Sinatra songs throughout the house\, and I would remember the lyrics and join him from time to time\, even at the early age of 7.” \nMichael performed at the world famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City opening for Howie Mandel. He continues to perform nearly 275 nights a year in clubs\, dinner theatres\, performing arts centers\, corporate events and private parties. His true passion comes out when he is performing with his own Strictly Sinatra Band. This children’s concert is not associated with or endorsed by the artist.
