DESCRIPTION:Slippery When Wet – The Ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute was formed in 2003 by Jason Morey after answering many inquiries of “Are you Jon Bon Jovi?”. Most notably comedian Dave Chappelle invited Jason backstage following one of his comedy shows thinking that he was the New Jersey icon. It was then that Jason knew he had to take advantage of the resemblance. \nIt’s a good thing that Jason grew up on some of the best classic rock albums such as “Slippery When Wet” and “New Jersey”. Not to mention that he was also playing a few Bon Jovi songs in his widely successful tribute to the halcyon days of metal “The White Leppard Crue”.

After relocating to Nashville\, TN in the late aughts\, Lindberg went on to collaborate with artists such as Erin Rae\, Margo Price\, Luke Bell\, and Cale Tyson—performing in revered venues such as The Ryman Auditorium and Newport Folk Festival. \nAlexandra Grace\nDescribed by most as a singer-songwriter with an old soul\, Alexandra Grace lays her thought-provoking lyrics atop a bed of folk-influenced music\, creating eclectic and unique songs. \nAlexandra graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in May 2020 with a B.M. in Songwriting and Vocal Performance and a minor in Psychology. Currently\, she is focusing on performing\, songwriting\, and recording. She also teaches private lessons in voice\, songwriting\, piano\, beginner guitar & ukulele at her music studio in Gloucester. \nAlexandra released her debut EP ‘ Solstice’ on May 14\, 2021. So far\, her songs have landed on some well known playlists and have been awarded “Song of The Week” from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest\, as well as Semi-Finalist in the International Songwriting Competition\, for her song ‘Medicine’. \nHigh Tea\nHigh Tea\, the indie folk-rock duo hailing from Massachusetts\, is a concoction of sweepingly soulful harmonies\, guitar riffs to knock your socks off\, and a refreshing blend of old blues and new rock. Isabella DeHerdt and Isaac Eliot have come together to fill spaces with homegrown storytelling and Lumineers-esque vocals. Their songs are ripe with americana heartbreak\, and tell tales of growing up\, going wild\, and always coming back to the ones you love. \nTheir previous releases\, Old Cowboy and The Wick And The Flame were featured on playlists\, radio shows\, and publications like The Boston Globe\, The Greenfield Recorder (among others). The title track of Old Cowboy led them to be chosen as one of WBUR’s top 4 Massachusetts Tiny Desk entries of 2022. They toured The Wick And The Flame on the West Coast\, in New England\, and throughout other US States and received write ups from Atwood’s Magazine\, The Boston Herald\, and more. \nTheir new EP\, Scuba Diving\, dives – literally and figuratively – into four very different worlds on each unique song. Listeners are led through an exhilarating and dangerous love story\, a struggle for independence from a lineage of harsh repression\, and an internal struggle against the feeling of hopelessness brought on by quick-fix culture\, all accompanied by dynamic guitar\, thumping drums\, and echoing harmonies. This journey of lyrical storytelling and compelling sound culminates in the title track and single from the album\, a personal and intimate story of hospitalization\, a search for mental health\, fear for a friend who is facing down demons\, and the fight for understanding an ally’s role within that story. Without a doubt\, Scuba Diving is some of High Tea’s most honest and eye-opening work yet.

SUMMARY:Mark Sandman Memorial Concert: Gone 25 Years But Not Forgotten
DESCRIPTION:7/5/24\nPartial Seating and G.A Standing. 7:30m Doors/8:30p Show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required. $30-$40 \nJuly 3\, 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of Morphine front man Mark Sandman’s death\, felled by a heart attack in the middle of Morphine’s set at the Nel Nome Del Rock festival in Palestrina\, Italy on July 3\, 1999. To honor the anniversary\, a special night of Sandman’s music will be presented at The Cut on July 5th by Orchestra Morphine. Entitled “Mark Sandman Memorial Concert: Gone 25 Years But Not Forgotten”\, the concert will feature Sandman’s music performed by friends and bandmates\, including original Morphine members Dana Colley and Jerome Deupree. Formed in 1999 in the wake of Sandman’s passing\, Orchestra Morphine also includes members of Hypnosonics: Russ Gershon and Tom Halter (Either/Orchestra) and Mike Rivard (Club d’Elf). Special guests including Laurie Sargent\, Jimmy Ryan and Christian McNeill will interpet songs from the Morphine and Hypnosonics songbooks. \nSandman was an inspired songwriter\, conceptualist and multi-instrumentalist\, a fearless\, distinctive creative presence on the Cambridge\, Boston\, national and international music scenes. He rose to national fame in the late 80’s as a member of BMG recording artists Treat Her Right. In the early 90’s he formed Morphine with saxophonist Colley and drummers Deupree and the late Billy Conway\, which became an internationally touring cult band\, earning the praise of club kids\, critics and rock stars. \nNever constrained by one band format\, Sandman created numerous project bands and collaborations. He formed his “secret band”\, Hypnosonics\, in 1984 and the group remained active until his untimely death. A free-wheeling\, minimalist funk band\, the band never released any recordings while Sandman was alive. Finally in 2021\, the label Modern Harmonic released two LP’s of previously unreleased Hypnosonics sessions : Someone Stole My Shoes and Drums Were Beating. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Sandman’s passing\, the label is releasing a two-disc (and single vinyl) set of more unissued Hypnosonics material: Middle East Rent Control Benefit 1994 / Knitting Factory NYC 1997. This very special event will also serve as the Release Party for the new Hypnosonics releases.

At the heart of those achievements is Kenny’s ability to convey deep emotional resonance with his saxophone\, a skill never more apparent than on Innocence\, his 20th studio album and fifth for Concord Records. \nThe 12-track project’s theme is lullabies\, which have existed for thousands of years not only as a means of soothing babies to sleep but also to impart cultural and familial traditions. “Lullabies are very special to me\,” says Kenny\, who has been mulling an album with this musical focus for several years and even mentioned the idea in passing in Penny Lane’s acclaimed 2021 HBO documentary on him\, Listening to Kenny G. “They hold a special place in my heart. Since then\, Stella has appeared across North America\, Europe\, and Asia in numerous concerto\, recital\, and chamber music performances. She appears frequently with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center both in New York and on tour. \nStella has appeared as a chamber musician in festivals including the Ravinia\, Seattle Chamber Music and several others. She is the inaugural recipient of the Robert Levin Award from Harvard University\, where she was inspired by Robert Levin himself. She received her doctorate from the Juilliard School where she now serves as teaching assistant to her longtime mentor Li Lin. Stella plays the 1720 General Kyd Stradivarius\, on generous loan from Dr. Ryuji Ueno and Rare Violins in Consortium\, Artists and Benefactors Collaborative\, and the 1708 Huggins Stradivarius courtesy of the Nippon Music Foundation.

He was the first and only harpsichordist to be a BBC New Generation Artist (2008-2010)\, a Borletti-Buitoni prize winner (2009)\, and a nominee for Gramophone’s Artist of the Year (2014\, 2015\, 2017. As a concerto soloist\, he has performed with major symphonies and chamber orchestras and contemporary music ensembles around the world. \nEsfahani’s work with new and modern music is particularly acclaimed\, with high-profile solo and concertante commissions from composers such as George Lewis\, Brett Dean\, Bent Sørensen and other contemporary voices. He was co-founder of the St. Lawrence String Quartet (SLSQ)\, and currently serves as both the Associate Dean and Director of Chamber Music at the Glenn Gould School and Dean of the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He also serves as Executive Director of the Banff International String Quartet Competition. \nJeremy McCoy\, double bass\nFor 35 seasons\, Jeremy McCoy served as the Co-Principal double bass for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra\, playing in more than 5\,000 performances under music directors James Levine and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. He retired from that position in 2020\, but continues to be a highly sought after artist in orchestral and chamber settings. McCoy has performed as concerto soloist with the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra\, the Louisiana Philharmonic\, Classical Tahoe\, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and Musica Viva of New York. His interest in authentic performance has included collaborations with period-instrument ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. \nHe has recorded the Chopin Cello Sonata with Dénes Várjon for Hyperion using one of Chopin’s own pianos. Recent seasons have featured a performance with Sir Andras Schiff at the Beethovenhaus in Bonn\, using Beethoven’s own cello; and performances and recordings with Robert Levin (selected for the Deutsche SchallplattenPreis) of Beethoven’s complete music for cello and piano using original or replica fortepianos. With harpsichordist Richard Egarr\, he has performed and recorded the viola da gamba sonatas of J.S. Bach as well as sonatas by Handel and Scarlatti. \nMr. Isserlis is also a keen exponent of contemporary music and has premiered many new works including John Tavener’s The Protecting Veil\, Thomas Adès’s Lieux retrouvés\, and Stephen Hough’s Sonata for Cello and Piano\, Left Hand (Les Adieux). In 2016\, he gave the UK premiere of Olli Mustonen’s Frei\, aber einsam at the Wigmore Hall. \nHis recording of J.S. Bach’s complete Solo Cello Suites for Hyperion met with the highest critical acclaim and was Gramophone’s Instrumental Album of the Year and Critics’ Choice at the Classic BRITS. In 1993 she was awarded the Sylva Gelber Award for most outstanding classical artist under age 30. At the age of nine\, she made her orchestral debut with Mendelssohn’s first Piano Concerto with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. \n​As soloist\, she has appeared with orchestras throughout Canada\, the U.S. and Europe. She has performed countless solo recitals worldwide as well as chamber music performances with many world-renowned musicians. To critical acclaim\, she appears regularly in recital with cellist Steven Isserlis and has performed at concert venues across Germany with the cellist Manuel Fischer-Dieskau\, with whom she recorded the first-ever CD of the Sonatas for Piano and Cello by Carl Reinecke and the complete Beethoven sonatas. \nMs. Shih’s performances are frequently broadcast via television and radio on CBC\, BBC\, SWR\, NDR and WDR\, as well as on other various television and radio stations in North America and Europe.
