Required. 8:00p doors / 8:30p show \nIt’s obvious listening to Sarah Shook and the Disarmers’ clear-eyed\, biting\, and unafraid songs that integrity is the most important thing to the Chapel Hill\, North Carolina\, country-punk outfit. “A lot of artists are in this industry for fame\, recognition\, and money but those things don’t mean anything to me\,” says bandleader River Shook. “Songwriting is it for me. SUMMARY:Suzzy Roche & Lucy Wainwright Roche
DESCRIPTION:Suzzy and Lucy released their last recording I Can Still Hear You in the fall of 2020. The album was largely recorded in the darkest hours of the Covid shutdown in the spring of 2020 in NYC. After starting the recording in Nashville\, the mother/daughter team went back to New York City just as the city closed up. They set up studios in their bedrooms: Lucy in Brooklyn\, Suzzy in Manhattan\, and finished the record. Hailed as “one of the year’s best” by Americana Highways\, the new album has been met with high praise. (see attached sheet). Suzzy and Lucy have recorded two albums previously\, Fairytale & Myth (Independent Music Award winner) and Mud & Apples (also nominated for IMA). \nThose familiar with Lucy Wainwright Roche are aware of her bell tone voice\, her unshakable melodies\, and her knack for wise\, wry lyrics. It’s no surprise that Wainwright Roche is the daughter of Suzzy Roche (The Roches) and Loudon Wainwright III\, half sibling to Rufus and Martha Wainwright. Lucy has carved out her own career as a touring singer/songwriter and recording artist\, with five critically acclaimed solo recordings released on her own label: Eight Songs\, Eight More\, Lucy\, There’s a Last Time for Everything and her most recent Little Beast (Winner of the Independent Music Award for Best Singer/Songwriter.) Other recordings include a collaboration with her sister Martha Wainwright on Songs In the Dark\, a collection of lullabies. For over a decade\, as a solo act\, armed with a guitar\, a deadpan sense of humor\, insightful songs\, and a voice that makes tough guys cry\, she’s built a solid following across the US and Europe. As an opening act she has often appeared with such luminaries as The Indigo Girls\, Mary Chapin Carpenter\, Neko Case\, and her brother\, Rufus\, and she’s one of a few who can step out alone in front of a thousand strangers and play an entire set to a rapt audience. \nSuzzy Roche is a singer/songwriter/performer/author and founding member of the singing group The Roches. She has recorded over eighteen albums\, written music for TV and Film\, and toured extensively for forty years across the U.S. and Europe. She has performed with the experimental theater troupe\, The Wooster Group\, for over twenty years. Her children’s book Want To Be In A Band (Random House) was published in February 2013. Wayward Saints (Hyperion/Voice) is her first novel and was a selection of the Spring 2012 B&N Discover Great New Writers Program. Her most recent novel The Town Crazy was published in August of 2020. www.suzzyroche.com \nTHE CHICAGO TRIBUNE’s review of Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche’s performance at The Space in Evanston Illinois said\, “Their voices intertwined in gorgeous union…mother and daughter had the room in the palms of their talented hands. This was a glittering gem of a show.”

I don’t care about any superficial things when I’m making a record.” On their resonant fourth album Revelations\, produced by Shook and out March 29 via Thirty Tigers\, these raw and resilient tracks come first. Throughout\, Shook’s deft storytelling documents regular people getting by and keeping on\, all presented without filter or pretension. \n“The best country songs take you home\,” says Nicolette Hoang\, frontwoman and songwriter for the Guelph\, Ontario-based band\, Nicolette & The Nobodies. “I want to write music that does that\, songs that take you home.” \nNicolette is romantic about retro Western music; she speaks with a soft grit\, a warm and distinguished rattle that lends her observations weight. Performing\, she loosens into an unabashed howl\, a fluid force turning upward at the edges with unmistakable twang. She keeps her lyrics no-nonsense—earthy comments on the human condition\, floridity be damned. She reserves her flamboyance and flair for onstage attire—cowboy hats\, fringed vests with matching hot pants\, boots by all accounts made for walking.

SUMMARY:Session Americana
DESCRIPTION:21+\, Positive. I.D. Required. 7:00pm Doors / 8:00pm Show \nLate one Sunday night in October 2003\, Session Americana had its first jam around a table in the back of Toad in Cambridge\, Massachusetts. Looking back\, the group has had a natural\, almost inevitable evolution from a loose bunch of friends sitting around swapping songs in a bar\, to a hot-ticket weekly residency\, to a touring collective. Along the way\, the band has made nine records (so far)\, played clubs and festivals across the U.S. and Europe\, and developed deep collaborative bonds with a wide community of musicians. Session Americana’s diligent avoidance of music business “shoulds” has led the band down a quirky and joyful path through the music world. The result is evident in the musical prowess the players and singers bring to every show. Swapping instruments\, trading off lead vocals and sharing songwriting credits\, Session Americana is constantly exploring new collaborations and touring like a band out of time\, always searching for a welcoming and homey venue\, a long lunch with old friends\, and a good glass of wine.

SUMMARY:The Wailin' Jennys
DESCRIPTION:The Wailin’ Jennys Are Nicky Mehta\, Ruth Moody And Heather Masse — Three Distinct Voices That Together Make An Achingly Perfect Vocal Sound. \nStarting as a happy accident of solo singer/songwriters getting together for a one-time-only performance at a tiny guitar shop in Winnipeg\, Manitoba\, The Wailin’ Jennys have grown over the years into one of today’s most beloved international folk acts. Founding members Moody and Mehta along with New York-based Masse continue to create some of the most exciting music on the folk-roots scene\, stepping up their musical game with each critically lauded recording\, and thrilling audiences with their renowned live performances. \nIn 2004\, The Wailin’ Jennys released their first full-length album 40 Days to great critical acclaim\, netting a 2005 Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year. Bolstered by their frequent appearances on Garrison Keillor’s public radio show A Prairie Home Companion\, The Jennys exploded onto the roots music scene\, performing at packed venues across Canada\, the U.S. and throughout the world. \nThe Jennys’ sophomore album\, 2006’s Firecracker\, served as a powerful follow-up to their career-making debut. Artistically\, the record found The Jennys stepping out of the folk realm and into the world of alt-country\, pop and rock. Garnering much attention\, it was nominated for a Juno Award and won a 2007 Folk Alliance Award for Contemporary Release of the Year. Firecracker had legs\, spending over 56 weeks on the Billboard charts. \nThe trio’s 2009 release\, Live at Mauch Chunk Opera House\, also spent over a year on the Billboard bluegrass charts. That landmark live album bottled the lightning of The Jennys’ live performances with show-stopping harmonies\, impressive instrumental prowess\, breathtaking songs and\, of course\, witty stage banter. \nFor 2011’s Juno-winning Bright Morning Stars\, The Wailin’ Jennys joined the ranks of Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris and recorded with award-winning producer Mark Howard. Co-produced by frequent Jennys collaborator and Juno Award-nominated David Travers-Smith\, the album combined fresh and innovative sounds with the band’s signature harmonies — a perfect mix of Americana\, pop and traditional folk that has become a modern classic. Bright Morning Stars took home the Juno for Roots and Traditional album of the year in 2012. \nIn 2017\, The Jennys turned 15 years old. To mark the occasion\, the band took time away from the demands of motherhood to record and release a celebratory album for their fans: Fifteen. A carefully curated collection of some of their favourite songs\, the new record was recorded true to their live show sound with their long time beloved side players\, Richard Moody and Adam Dobres. Steeped in the artistry and elegance that has defined their career\, the album presents the Jennys at their very best\, highlighting their heartfelt vocals\, otherworldly harmonies\, and sophisticated arrangements. Fifteen was nominated for a Juno award in 2018 for Traditional Roots album of the year. \nThe Jennys are currently on tour\, while also road testing new songs for an upcoming studio album. \n“The Wailin’ Jennys are more than just impeccable bluegrass harmonizers; they’re also terrific bandleaders who give their traditional roots music a sense of real reverence.” — NPR

SUMMARY:Rodrigo y Gabriela
DESCRIPTION:Grammy Award winning duo Rodrigo y Gabriela grew up on an eclectic mix of classic rock\, heavy metal and flamenco\, a rare alchemy of influences that still informs their work today. Not long after the dissolution of their first band\, the two musicians set off with their acoustic guitars and ended up in Ireland\, where they soon ran out of money and began busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street — a turn of events that led to their crossing paths with Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice\, who then asked them to open for him at an early headline show. As they developed their distinct breed of guitar music\, Rodrigo y Gabriela quickly gained recognition for their extraordinary live show and made their full-length debut with 2002’s re-Foc. Along with turning out 8 additional acclaimed and kaleidoscopic albums over the years: including Area 52 (a 2012 effort made with a Cuban orchestra)\, 9 Dead Alive (a 2014 release that spotlighted their more rock-leaning sensibilities) and the 2020 Grammy winning Best Contemporary Instrumental Album\, Mettavolution\, the duo has cemented their status as a globally renowned live act. Among their many successes: performing at The White House for the President and First Lady of Mexico at a 2010 event hosted by Barack Obama; headlining the Jazz World stage at Glastonbury; selling out major venues like the Hollywood Bowl\, Red Rocks Amphitheatre\, London’s Royal Albert Hall\, Radio City Music Hall\, and the Sydney Opera House; and performing to massive crowds in such far-flung cities as Tokyo and Paris. 2023 sees the release of their most ambitious project yet\, the Advaita Vedanta inspired In Between Thoughts…A New World\, which features their signature dual guitar attack augmented by a full orchestra\, and a corresponding world tour.

The New York-based quartet performs a diverse mix of The Floyd’s extensive 16-album repertoire\, complete with faithful renditions of popular hits as well as obscure gems. \nWith stellar musicianship and passionate delivery\, The Machine explores collective improvisation rivaling that of an early 1970’s Pink Floyd\, while their use of expanded theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays and lighting continues The Floyd spirit of the 1980’s. SUMMARY:The Jayhawks
DESCRIPTION:The incredible harmonies and distinctive arrangements of The Jayhawks set them apart from the rest of the Minneapolis music scene that emerged in the 1980s. \nOver the course of almost 4 decades\, 11 albums\, countless memorable live shows and enough personal drama to fill a couple of Behind the Music episodes\, this beloved band soared to heights few ever achieve while winning the hearts and minds of numerous critics\, fans and peers in the process. \nAfter releasing 2 Indie albums in the 80s\, The Jayhawks had  become a driving force and inspiration behind the growing Americana movement in the early 1990s. Combining the talents of singer-songwriters Gary Louris and Mark Olson\, The Jayhawks released their major label debut\, the acclaimed Hollywood Town Hall (1992) on the Def American label. This was followed by Tomorrow the Green Grass (1995)\, which produced the alternative radio hit single “Blue.” \nWhen Olson left to pursue a solo career\, Louris singularly took over the songwriting role in The Jayhawks creating the band’s enduring sound on some of their best selling and well-received albums including Sound of Lies (1997)\, Smile (2000) and Rainy Day Music (2003). \nLouris continues to write and tour with the longtime core group of Marc Perlman\, Karen Grotberg\, and Tim O’Reagan. While the touring line-up has changed over the years and Olson briefly reappeared in 2010 to record and tour\, this classic lineup maintains a commitment to excellence and forward motion in their shows and in their recordings. Paging Mr. Proust (2016)\, was produced in Portland with Peter Buck and Tucker Martine and found the band moving in several new exciting directions. The band’s 10th studio album\, Back Roads And Abandoned Motels\, was released in the summer of 2018\, featuring Jayhawks versions of songs Gary Louris had previously written with other artists plus 2 new compositions. In July  2020 The Jayhawks released their latest album\, XOXO\, that features songwriting and lead vocal contributions from all 4 core members. \nThe Jayhawks have made music in 4 different decades and are as vital now as they were in 1985. They definitely have earned their reputation as a true American treasure.

SUMMARY:The Carnivals CD Release with Glostafarians After Party
DESCRIPTION:04/27/2024\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required. 7:00p doors / 8:00p show \nThe Carnivals are a 5 piece combo that combine a unique blend of 50’s inspired R&B with a New Orleans flair. Hailing from Gloucester Massachusetts\, their debut album\, “Fiesta Time” will be released in spring of 2024. Best described as a fun time party band\, the song “Greasy Pole” tells the tale of a 100 plus year competition where the contestants walk the length of a horizontal telephone pole coated in grease\, 20 feet over the harbor to capture a flag and achieve hero status on the streets of Gloucester.

Required. 6:30p doors / 7:30p show \n“An astounding guitar virtuoso and a forceful singer.” – Billboard \n“Stratocaster-fueled\, fierce slash-and-burn guitar work…dramatic\, smoldering Southern soul-rooted intensity. SUMMARY:Soggy Po Boys
DESCRIPTION:The Soggy Po Boys\, native to New England\, have quickly become an institution. They are spreading the good news of New Orleans music across the northeast and beyond\, playing at concert halls and street corners; music festivals and burlesque festivals; bars and libraries; wherever the party requires. Part of the beauty of New Orleans music is that it’s celebrated and appreciated wherever it goes\, from the street to the theater. \nThe Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece. Exploring the vast musical traditions of New Orleans and expanding their repertoire to look beyond NOLA jazz\, the band includes traditional Caribbean tunes (it’s been said that New Orleans is the northernmost city in the Caribbean)\, as well as Meters funk\, soul\, and brass band / street beat music. There are a myriad of traditions that flow into New Orleans culture just as there are tributaries that feed the Mississippi\, and the Po Boys are eager to explore what makes the music of New Orleans so damn special. You’ll hear the heavy influence of the New Orleans sound across the band and in the stories told by their original tunes. Despite the scope of its sound\, the outfit is only seven people\, and thrives on the interplay and group dynamics that bring this music to life. \nThe Soggy Po Boys are: \nStu Dias- Vocals / Guitar\nEric Klaxton- Clarinet/Sop. Sax\nNick Mainella- Tenor Sax\nJosh Gagnon – Trombone\nMike Effenberger- Piano\nScott Kiefner- Upright Bass\nBrian Waterhouse – Drums/Percussion
