SUMMARY:Appleton Farms February Vacation Camp
DESCRIPTION:In the winter\, many people hunker down to stay indoors\, but at Appleton Farms\, we make the most of the cold\, quiet season. There is no better place to spend winter farm days than in exploring in the snow and learning to love the outdoors in all seasons! This program is for kids who are looking to make friends\, explore the forests and fields of the farm\, and learn about life in New England in winter\, including learning about a type of winter farming – maple sugaring! Every day will include an outdoor adventure of hiking\, snowshoeing\, or other farm explorations. \nThis is a school vacation drop-off program running Monday-Friday 9am-3pm\, February 17-21. Campers should be prepared to spend days mostly outdoors and will need appropriate clothes including hats\, gloves\, and boots. We will have snack and lunch on the farm (families provide their own campers’ food). A parent handbook will be provided to all parents and registration requires submission of child’s health forms\, per licensing requirements. This program is licensed by the Ipswich Board of Health. \n$530 Member Child/$610 Nonmember Child

You’ll learn some of the history of maple sugaring as well as the science behind what makes maple sap run in our trees. The stroll concludes with a visit to our sugar shack where you will see firsthand how we turn the collected sap into our delicious Appleton maple syrup! \nBe sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and boots or shoes that are appropriate for hiking in potentially wet and muddy spots or over uneven hilly terrain. All Maple Strolls are weather permitting and will last approximately 1 hour\, walking much of that time. We welcome all ages; however\, information is geared towards those 10 and up. Have smaller kids? Check out our family geared maple programming\, Maple in the Barnyard! \nSpace is limited for this event and pre-registration is strongly recommended. \nWe will have a food station open selling maple baked goods\, snacks and treats from 12-3pm by the sugar shack. Make sure to stop by! No pizza service will be available. The Farm Store is open 10am-4pm where you can buy our very own syrup. Make sure to stop by!

Nearly 200 cyclists participate annually and dozens of local businesses and restaurants sponsor the ride. \nRide in person or virtually and raise money to help families and individuals in our community facing homelessness rebuild their lives. \nThis year’s event will take place on Sunday\, September 15th. \nCycle for Shelter will have a 100 mile route\, a 62 mile route\, a 35 mile route and a 15 mile route. \nAll routes start and return to Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill\, MA. \nThe Event features:\nLow fundraising minimum\, including a special Family Team minimum requirement\nFun post-ride cookout\nOpportunity to participate in training rides to prepare for the big day\nGoodie bag for all riders\nSpecial fundraising incentives! Raise $750 and get a free jersey; raise $1\,989 and be inducted into the Founders Cycling Club/1989 Society!
