DESCRIPTION:We celebrate America’s 250th year of independence by showcasing the diverse voices\, songs\, harmonies\, and rhythms of our shared musical heritage. We explore how those voices influenced each other and how they impact the present day. The cornerstone of this program is a new commission by composer Trevor Weston\, demonstrating the link between traditional American hymnody and African American Spirituals. Other repertoire traces the progression of the American choral tradition from Black Gospel quartets to Shape-Note singing to Barbershop quartets and vocal jazz. The program also includes settings of traditional American Bluegrass tunes and beloved folk songs\, like “Calling my Children Home” and “Shenandoah\,” as well as arrangements of more contemporary American classics\, like Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies” and “Home” from The Wiz. \nThe GRAMMY® Award–winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer is celebrated worldwide as “an orchestra of voices\,” renowned for its dazzling virtuosity and expansive repertoire. Founded in San Francisco in 1978 by singer and musicologist Louis Botto\, Chanticleer has become one of the most prolific touring and recording ensembles\, with over one million albums sold. In 2026\, “Betty’s in the Band\,” her duet with Weston Hunter\, sparked an even bigger breakthrough: a live clip went viral before the song’s release\, and the track surpassed one million Spotify streams in its first ten days\, growing her monthly audience to more than half a million listeners. \nAbigail has become a fixture of Nashville’s songwriter scene\, selling out her EP release show at The Basement and making her AmericanaFest debut this September. She recently wrapped an East Coast tour with Bre Kennedy\, with more dates to be announced soon. \nBeyond the stage\, Abigail volunteers with Musicians On Call\, bringing live music to hospital patients\, and performed at the organization’s 25th Anniversary Show in Nashville alongside Kelsea Ballerini and Wynonna Judd. Her debut album arrives in the fall\, bringing years of work together in one defining statement and opening the door to her next chapter. \nABOUT MELANIE MACLAREN \nMelanie MacLaren has quickly established herself in the folk and Americana scene with her unique ability to blend poetic lyricism and a tongue-in-cheek sensibility with timeless folk style. Melanie’s “haunting yet humorous” songs\, distinctive finger-style guitar and soul-string vocals have won over live audiences nationally and internationally since 2022. Her ability to effortlessly weave past and present threads of the folk tradition without sacrificing any sense of individuality and contemporary relevance make her an undeniable artist to watch. \nShe released her stunning debut EP “Kill My Time” in 2022 independently to enthusiastic critical reception before gaining the attention of Tone Tree Distribution in Nashville. Within a few months of the release\, she had signed with Tone Tree\, landed several coveted playlist spots (most notably Spotify’s Best of 2022 Fresh Folk Finds)\, and released a second EP of duets entitled “Tadpole Emporium” with Dublin songwriter Lorkin O’Reilly (DUG) which they toured together in the UK and Ireland. \nMelanie then released her second solo EP “Tourist” in April 2023. With tracks featured on multiple editorial playlists (most notably Spotify Fresh Finds and Spotify’s Best of 2022 Fresh Folk Finds) she garnered over 2.5 million streams across platforms. She has shared bills with both established and rising folk artists like Caleb Caudle\, Jessica Lea Mayfield\, Charli Adams\, Joshua Burnside\, DUG\, Lorkin O’Reilly\, Ramsey Thornton\, Bobby Bare Jr. and June Henry. In 2024\, she had the opening spot on Charlie Starr’s (Blackberry Smoke) solo acoustic tour in January and played to several sold out audiences. \nIn 2025 Melanie was selected as one of the finalist in the Troubadour Contest for Telluride Bluegrass Festival and was an official artist at Salmonfest in Alaska in August marking her first major festival appearances. In 2026 Melanie embarked on a successful coheadline tour of the Northeast with artist Liv Greene. She continues to write music and work on new projects.

DESCRIPTION:Virtuoso multi-instrumentalists Jerron Paxton and Dennis Lichtman celebrate the roots of American music with an energetic blend of acoustic blues\, ragtime\, traditional jazz\, Tin Pan Alley favorites\, and original songs. Their masterful musicianship\, rich storytelling\, and infectious chemistry create an unforgettable concert honoring the enduring spirit of early American musical traditions. \nJerron Paxton and Dennis Lichtman are world-renowned multi-instrumentalists and vocalists whose formal musical partnership began with a video shoot\, Just Cross the River From Queens\, at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in 2017. Paxton and Lichtman recently released their first full-length duo recording. The duo were Artists-In-Residence at NYC’s Symphony Space for the 2024-25 season and have toured the US and internationally together since 2019. \nSmithsonian Folkways recording artist Paxton presents Black folk music from nearly all the idioms that entails: stride piano jazz from New Orleans to New York; deep blues on guitar and harmonica; rural music from the beginnings of Black arrival in America played on fiddle and\nbanjo; ragtime; and other turn-of-the-century-music that gives the full breadth of pre-WWII Black music without lecturing\, but rather inviting you to enjoy that music as it was given to him. Paxton transports his audiences not to a time\, but to a state of mind that allows them to enjoy and internalize Black folk music\, as has been the American experience for centuries. \nLichtman is a world-traveling bandleader who is best known for running the famed trad-jazz jam sessions at Mona’s Bar in New York City since 2007\, which was described in the Wall Street Journal as “ground zero for an emerging late-night scene of young traditional jazz and swing players.” He is a masterful multi-instrumentalist (clarinet\, mandolin\, violin\, and more) who has toured and recorded with David Byrne\, The Lovestruck Balladeers\, Pokey LaFarge\, Ghost Train Orchestra\, Jim Kweskin\, and his own projects: The Brain Cloud\, Mona’s Hot Four\,\nand his newest all-original album Secret Workshop. \nPaxton and Lichtman’s mutual love of the history\, stories\, and significance behind the music they play is apparent as they romp through an energetic and engaging set of acoustic blues\, ragtime\, Tin Pan Alley pop songs\, 1920s jazz\, twin fiddle hoe-downs\, and original songs and compositions.

DESCRIPTION:Experience the timeless music of Paul Simon with The Clements Brothers in a captivating quartet tribute filled with soaring harmonies and exceptional musicianship. George Clements brings the music vividly to life\, drawing on his experience portraying Paul Simon in the national tour of The Simon & Garfunkel Story. \nThe Clements Brothers are George and Charles Clements\, identical twins from New England. They’ve been playing and writing music together for as long as they can remember and ‘The Clements Brothers’ marks their first project together since playing in the internationally touring grass-roots band\, ‘The Lonely Heartstring Band’ with whom they put out two albums on Rounder Records. With roots\, rock\, bluegrass\, jazz\, and classical influences\, George (on guitar) and Charles (on bass) aim to capture their singer-songwriter sensibilities in a unique blended voice\, at once enthralling and intimate\, groovy and serene. Their first album ‘Dandelion Breeze’ was released in 2023 on Plow Man Records and their sophomore record is set to be released in the Fall of 2026. The duo is a fusion of each brother’s unique musical journey\, and the result is music all its own\, filled with vocal harmonies\, instrumental virtuosity\, and a genuine love of song.
