SUMMARY:Ms. Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton
DESCRIPTION:Grammy and Oscar-winning vocalist Lisa Fischer is a once-in-a-lifetime talent whose voice has captivated audiences worldwide. After decades performing with icons like the Rolling Stones\, Luther Vandross\, and Tina Turner\, Fischer now blazes her own trail\, transforming every song with breathtaking range\, power\, and soul. Whether with her adventurous band Grand Baton or in intimate collaborations\, Fischer delivers performances that are unforgettable\, transcendent\, and deeply moving. \n“A talent that comes once in a lifetime” Roberta Flack \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nSome artists bring a rare\, magnetic magic to their live performances—an energy that transcends simply listening to a recording. Lisa Fischer is one of those singular performers. When she steps on stage\, her voice commands attention\, weaving power\, tenderness\, and crystalline clarity into an experience that leaves audiences spellbound. Critics and fans alike marvel at her vocal range and control\, calling her a once-in-a-lifetime talent. “A talent that comes once in a lifetime\,” says Roberta Flack. “Like Haley’s Comet\, her brilliance is dazzling and brings light into the world.” \nA Grammy and Oscar-winning artist\, Fischer has spent more than four decades shaping the sound of popular music. Her soaring vocals carried her to the top of the R&B charts in 1991 with How Can I Ease the Pain\, earning her a Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Yet much of her career was spent as the consummate collaborator\, lending her extraordinary voice to some of the world’s greatest performers. For over 25 years she toured with the Rolling Stones\, with Keith Richards marveling at her “amazing power\, energy\, and projection.” She has also performed alongside Luther Vandross\, Sting\, Tina Turner\, and Nine Inch Nails\, adding unmatched depth and texture to their sound. \nHer story reached a wider audience with the Oscar-winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom (2013)\, which spotlighted the lives and artistry of the world’s finest backup singers. The film became a turning point for Fischer\, inspiring her to step into the spotlight and chart her own creative journey. “The film gave me a chance to take stock and realize I could start defining my own path\,” she explains. \nSince then\, Fischer has embraced a new chapter as a fearless solo artist. With her adventurous band Grand Baton\, she has developed a dynamic repertoire that fuses Caribbean rhythms\, psychedelic soul\, and progressive jazz-rock\, often reimagining songs she once performed in support of other legends. She continues to stretch boundaries through wide-ranging collaborations—whether in intimate duo performances with jazz pianist Taylor Eigsti\, bringing gospel fire to Gullah-inspired group Ranky Tanky\, or creating luminous soundscapes in partnership with Alonzo King LINES Ballet. Each project reveals a different facet of her artistry while staying true to her deep musical soul. \nTo experience Lisa Fischer live is to embark on a journey through sound\, spirit\, and emotion. She doesn’t simply sing songs—she transforms them\, reshaping familiar melodies into something entirely new and unforgettable. With infinite textures and boundless imagination\, Lisa Fischer has secured her place among America’s greatest vocalists. Her performances are more than concerts; they are profound celebrations of music’s power to move\, uplift\, and inspire.

SUMMARY:Dueling Pianos at The Cut
DESCRIPTION:Dueling Pianos is back. Bring your friends and have a Ball. Dueling Pianos is a massive “to the top of your lungs” sing along with all your friends! Two grand pianos are center-stage with a team of outrageously talented pianists that seem to know every song ever written. \nEach show is different because it’s all request. And you or your friends might get called up onstage for a bit of good humored fun and some unforgettable you-tube moments. These shows are request oriented\, interactive sing-a-longs wherein two piano players sit across from each other and trade songs. The dueling piano audience is used for the dueling aspect of the show. Audience members are pitted one-side-against-the-other. Examples of rivalries include country vs. rock\, men against women\, etc. \nDueling piano shows often take unexpected turns\, like involving wait staff members\, changing song lyrics or roasting popular audience members. There aren’t many boundaries. It’s one big sing-along party\, swaying to the music and bellowing-out familiar lyrics. You’re not just being entertained by the piano players – you are part of the show! \n“Think YOU won’t sing along? Just TRY not too…. I dare ya!”

SUMMARY:Leonkoro Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Winner of the International String Quartet Competition and awarded the prestigious Jürgen Ponto Foundation Music Prize\, the Leonkoro Quartet has quickly emerged as one of the most compelling and acclaimed string quartets of its generation. With performances that marry breathtaking precision with unrestrained emotional depth\, this dynamic ensemble captivates audiences and critics alike. \nPROGRAM: “Role Models” \nHenriëtte Bosmans: String Quartet \nMendelssohn: String Quartet #2 in A minor\, Op. 13 \nIntermission \nSchubert: String Quartet in D minor\, D. 810 “Death and the Maiden” \n“The Leonkoro Quartet…possesses an extraordinary stage presence\, glows for the music\, embraces full artistic risk\, and astounds through their profound sensitivity towards the unique sonority of each piece”–Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung \nABOUT THE LEONKORO QUARTET \nFounded in Berlin in 2019\, the Leonkoro Quartet has rapidly emerged as one of the most compelling ensembles of its generation. Comprising brothers Jonathan and Lukas Schwarz (violin and cello)\, Amelie Wallner (second violin)\, and Mayu Konoe (viola)\, the ensemble takes its name from Leonkoro—Esperanto for “lionheart”—a nod to Astrid Lindgren’s tale of brotherhood\, courage\, and emotional depth\, themes that resonate deeply in the string quartet repertoire. \nThe quartet achieved international prominence in 2022 with a sweep of major competitions: First Prize and nine special awards at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition\, First Prize plus both Audience and Young Audience Prizes at the Concours de Bordeaux\, and the Jürgen Ponto Foundation Music Prize. They were named recipients of the MERITO String Quartet Award\, selected after a year of discreet evaluation by renowned musicians\, and joined the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists program (2022–2024). \nTheir success continued into 2024\, receiving the Young Talent Award from the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and becoming Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award winners—further affirming their international standing. That same year\, they launched a long-term recording partnership with Alpha Classics\, following the acclaimed 2023 release of their debut album on Mirare\, featuring quartets by Ravel and Schumann\, honored with the Choc de Classica de l’année. \nThe ensemble has studied under Heime Müller and Günter Pichler\, with mentorship from Alfred Brendel and members of the Artemis Quartet. Upcoming engagements include debuts at the Salzburg Festival\, Philharmonie Luxembourg\, Tonhalle Zurich\, Bozar Brussels\, and a major North American tour with performances in New York\, Boston\, Chicago\, Montreal\, Houston\, and San Francisco. \nThe Leonkoro Quartet is a Pirastro Artist and Henle App Ambassador. \nJonathan Schwarz plays a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini (1759/60) on generous loan through a trust. Amelie Wallner plays on a fine Giovanni Battista Guardagnini\, generously loaned by the Beare’s International Violin Society. Mayu Konoe plays a viola by Lorenzo Storioni\, kindly provided by a private sponsor. Lukas Schwarz plays a cello by Carlo Tononi\, Venice (c. 1720) loaned by the Beare’s International Violin Society.

SUMMARY:Profoundly Vulnerable: The Story of Four Witchcraft Accusations
DESCRIPTION:Join us on March 5th for our first virtual lecture of 2026\, “Profoundly Vulnerable: The Story of Four Witchcraft Accusations\,” presented in celebration of the 39th annual Women’s History Month. \nThere were many reasons why a woman in seventeenth-century New England might be accused of witchcraft\, but those who were alone\, poor\, and\, perhaps\, quarrelsome were in particular danger. We will focus on four women targeted during the Salem witch trials. Rachel Clinton\, Sarah Good\, Margaret Scott\, and Ann Dolliver each had promising beginnings in the New World but\, through no fault of their own\, found themselves in desperate circumstances. \nThis free virtual program will be hosted on Thursday March 5th at 6:00 pm ET. Registration is required for this event.

SUMMARY:Sculptural Legacies: A Curatorial Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Join a panel of museum curators for a “Sculptural Legacies: A Curatorial Roundtable on Emma Stebbins\, Edmonia Lewis and John Rhoden\,” in partnership with the Heckscher Museum in Huntington\, New York. This virtual discussion will focus on three recent single-artist exhibitions about three pathbreaking American sculptors: Emma Stebbins (1815–1882)\, Edmonia Lewis (1844–1907) and John Rhoden (1916–2001). Stebbins was a queer sculptor working in 19th-century Rome who is best known for creating Central Park’s Bethesda Fountain. Lewis was the first Black and Indigenous sculptor to achieve international acclaim in the 19th century\, and Rhoden was a world-traveling Black sculptor who mastered a wide range of artistic media. \nAs the first museum surveys of each artist\, these curators’ exhibitions meaningfully repositioned them within their broader networks\, featuring new archival discoveries and resurfacing previously unlocated sculptures. Go behind the scenes to learn about how these exhibitions unfolded\, and how the curators approached similar questions and challenges in bringing to life the artistic careers of these three trailblazing artists. \nSpeakers: \nShawnya L. Harris\, Ph.D.\, Larry D. and Brenda A. Thompson Curator of African American and African Diasporic Art\, Georgia Museum of Art\, University of Georgia; co-curator of Edmonia Lewis: Said in Stone\, now on view at PEM \nJeffrey Richmond-Moll\, Ph.D.\, PEM’s George Putnam Curator of American Art\, co-curator of Edmonia Lewis: Said in Stone \nBrittany Webb\, Ph.D.\, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art\, Museum of Fine Arts\, Houston\, Curator of Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden \nKarli Wurzelbacher\, Ph.D.\, Chief Curator at The Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington\, New York\, Curator of Emma Stebbins: Carving Out History

SUMMARY:Newburyport's Road to Independence III: Loyalists\, Prisoners\, and the Homefront
DESCRIPTION:Step into wartime Newburyport with Alex Cain as loyalists face persecution\, prices soar\, and fear hangs heavy as we move to independence. \nIn 1776\, as war raged across the American colonies\, the clash of armies echoed far beyond the battlefield into everyday life in Newburyport. Historian and fan favorite Alex Cain invites you to step into a time where loyalists were persecuted\, British prisoners were confined\, and families struggled with soaring prices\, shortages\, and the constant shadow of loss from combat. At the same time\, privateer prizes poured into the harbor\, flooding the port with captured riches and stirring hope of fantastic opportunities. Through hardship and adversity alike\, Newburyport pressed on in its determined drive toward independence. \nFunded\, in part\, by the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism.

SUMMARY:Nirvani - A Nirvana Tribute Experience with Foo!
DESCRIPTION:Nirvani is the most authentic and electrifying tribute band to the legendary grunge pioneers\, Nirvana. Known for their accurate recreation of the raw\, high-energy performances that made Kurt Cobain and company a cultural phenomenon\, Nirvani has been selling out venues across the country. From the iconic\, distorted guitar riffs to the anguished screams and rebellious spirit\, Nirvani brings the music of Nirvana to life in a way that feels as powerful and visceral as it did in the 90s. \nNirvani’s live shows are a high-octane journey through all the hits and deep cuts that defined Nirvana’s catalog. With a stage presence that channels the chaotic energy of the original band\, they deliver an unforgettable experience\, playing fan favorites like “Smells Like Teen Spirit\,” “Come As You Are\,” and “Heart-Shaped Box\,” alongside deeper tracks that true Nirvana fans will love. Their wild stage presence\, combined with instrument-smashing finales\, ensures no two shows are ever the same.

SUMMARY:Boston Children's Chorus
DESCRIPTION:This season\, Boston Children’s Chorus honors the unheralded voices who shaped history from the shadows. Their courage fueled the fires of justice. Through powerful music and storytelling\, our singers shine a light on local and national activists\, who stood for dignity\, equality\, and hope. Their stories remind us that change often begins with small actions\, grows through sacrifice\, and sings in solidarity. Join our singers for an uplifting and inspiring season where they will learn the power of one small voice to make a meaningful impact in the world. \nWe’re amplifying powerful voices this year—past and present. Inspired by trailblazers like Congressman John Lewis\, community champion Melnea Cass\, labor leader César Chávez\, and activist icon Dolores Huerta\, our concerts celebrate those who fought for justice\, dignity\, and change. Join us in honoring their legacy—explore our full season and discover how each performance tells a story that still resonates today! \nFree\, reservations encouraged. \nABOUT BCC \nBoston Children’s Chorus (BCC) was founded in 2003 by Hubie Jones\, a civic leader who has worked for six decades to address the social problems facing Boston’s underserved children and communities. Named Boston’s “Ambassadors of Harmony” by The Boston Globe\, BCC harnesses the power of music to connect Boston’s diverse communities\, cultivate empathy\, and inspire social inquiry. BCC after-school choral programs include 10 choirs with singers from 110 different zip codes in and around Boston. BCC is also proud to partner with schools to provide in-school choral education in Mattapan\, Roxbury\, South Boston\, East Boston\, Allston and the city of Chelsea. BCC presents over 50 performances per season in a wide range of public and private events. They have performed in venues from Boston Symphony Hall\, and Royal Albert Hall in London\, to Sydney Opera House\, and the White House. \nBCC is supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, a state agency\, and in part by a grant from the Boston Cultural Council\, a local agency which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, administered by the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.
