DESCRIPTION:Friday\, July 11\, 2025\n10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.\nCape Ann Museum Courtyard\, Downtown Campus\n27 Pleasant St\, Gloucester\, MA\, 01930\n$10 for CAM Members\, $20 for non-members\nRegistration Required \nAs a seaport town jutting into the Atlantic\, Gloucester was of strategic importance during the American Revolution and always under threat of attack. The people of the town stood ready to take action against the British\, and many of them did. In this walking tour down Middle Street — one of Gloucester’s oldest streets – we will step back in time to meet people who were witness to Revolution right from this spot; see where they lived and gathered\, in houses still standing today; and hear the stories of the roles they played in defending liberty\, as patriots\, privateers\, preachers and more. This tour was developed in conjunction with the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. \nStroll with a CAM Docent for about 1 1/2 hours as you walk Middle Street in downtown Gloucester. \nWhere to Meet?\nThough the Downtown Campus is currently closed for renovations until the spring of 2026\, the tour will gather at the courtyard attached to the Museum on 27 Pleasant Street. SUMMARY:Rocky Neck Historic Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Rocky Neck Historic Walking Tour are back for the season! This public walking tour covers the rich history of Rocky Neck Art Colony\, showcasing the many artists who worked here\, especially from the late nineteenth century to today. Artists such as Edward Hopper\, Winslow Homer\, Augustus Buhler\, John Sloan\, Theresa Bernstein\, Stuart Davis\, and Emile Gruppe found artistic inspiration and community in this peninsula. \nJoin one of our docents on the tour and follow a path that held studios and gathering places of the artists\, interspersed with the fishing shacks\, sail lofts\, and schooner docks of the fishing industry that grew up here over the same period. It will include recognition of the many galleries that contribute to the Rocky Neck community today. The tour also describes the importance of transportation and the proliferation of hotels that encouraged the growth of Rocky Neck as an artist community\, as well as other notable historic events. \nRNAC’s Historic Walking Tours last from 1- to 1.5 hours and cover approximately .75 miles. Tours begin at the Rocky Neck Parking Lot and end at the Rocky Neck Cultural Center\, 6 Wonson Street\, Gloucester\, MA. \nParticipants are encouraged to park in the parking lot at the entrance to Rocky Neck where a volunteer tour guide meets the group. Comfortable shoes are encouraged. DESCRIPTION:Know before you go\nIn-person event\nLocation: Meet inside the museum’s Main Atrium \nThe group will walk together to Derby Wharf (0.5 miles). \nMembers $39; nonmembers $49; plus $30 for materials \nAges 18+ \nThere will be a break for participants to buy lunch at the Atrium Café or nearby in Salem. \nCelebrate Making History: 200 Years of American Art from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with an al fresco introduction to watercolor sketching! \nThe session begins with a guided tour led by Jeffrey Richmond-Moll\, PEM’s George Putnam Curator of American Art\, who will offer an exclusive look at the iconic works in the exhibition. Afterward\, participants will engage in a creative workshop led by artist Jessica Yurwitz of Slow River Studio. \nThis class is perfect for beginners with no painting experience\, or those returning to art after a break. All supplies are provided\, and participants will take home essential materials so they can continue painting at home. \nIn the event of rain\, this class will take place in PEM’s Create Space Studios.

This special program for ages 3-11 & their families will focus on the magic of maple from start to finish. We will discover this tradition by observing trees\, tasting sap\, learning the tools involved\, and finally\, tasting the sweet product. We will make sure to have time to visit our barnyard animals! \nThis program is for families and will last approximately 45 minutes. Please dress for the weather as the program is held outdoors. Children over 12 may be better suited for our Adult Maple Strolls as the information at Maple in the Barnyard is geared towards a younger audience\, however\, all are welcome. \nLooking for a more adult tour? Sign up for our Adult Maple Stroll instead! \nSpace is limited for this event and pre-registration is strongly recommended. \nWe will have a food station open selling maple baked goods\, snacks and treats from 11:30-3pm by the sugar shack. The Farm Store is open 10am-4pm where you can buy our very own syrup. Make sure to stop by!

DESCRIPTION:Visit Long Hill’s breathtaking gardens and stately historic house for a guided tour. Enjoy the rich history of this grand country estate\, home of the Sedgwick family\, as you learn about the elegant lifestyle of wealthy Bostonians on the North Shore\, and the artisans who created it. The tour takes you through the Federal-style house and the spectacular gardens\, with terraces\, statues\, fountains\, and pagodas\, each section filled with unique perennial flowers from around the world. Highlights of the tour include a room filled with stunning 19th century Chinese wallpaper\, the evolution of the stunning Sedgwick gardens\, and the hidden connection between the house and an old Southern antebellum mansion. \nPlease dress appropriately for the weather. Sturdy\, comfortable shoes are recommended. Meeting point for the tour is in front of the Main House by the copper beech tree. \nSpace is limited. \nLong Hill House & Garden Tours run most Saturdays and Sundays April through the end of September. SUMMARY:Passport to the Past: Stevens-Coolidge Guided House Tour
DESCRIPTION:Discover the stories behind the walls of one of North Andover’s historic gems. Join us for a guided tour of Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens\, a Colonial Revival treasure that reflects early 20th-century elegance and global influence. Once the summer home of Helen Stevens Coolidge and John Gardner Coolidge—a diplomat and descendant of Thomas Jefferson and nephew of Isabella Stewart Gardner—the historic house offers a unique glimpse into the lifestyle\, travels\, and tastes of a well-connected New England family. \nParticipants will begin with a short walk from our Garden Gateway Center and explore the first floor of the house. Every item in the home is a historic collection piece original to the couple and beautifully conserved. \nThe tour will last approximately 50-60 minutes. The first floor of the home is wheelchair accessible but we kindly ask no strollers\, food or drink in the home. \nPre-Registration is required. Space is limited. Admission includes access to the stunning formal gardens and grounds\, perfect for exploring before or after your tour. \nPre-registration is required. SUMMARY:Maple Strolls at Appleton Farms
DESCRIPTION:Sessions start at: 11\, 12:15 & 1:30 Trustees Members $12/Nonmembers $20 \nVisit the historic maple stand and sugar shack at Appleton Farms and learn all about maple sugaring\, its history at the farm and in New England\, and how you can try your hand at it at home! \nExperience a leisurely stroll along our country farm roads and past several historic landscapes to our Appleton maple grove. You’ll learn some of the history of maple sugaring as well as the science behind what makes maple sap run in our trees. The stroll concludes with a visit to our sugar shack where you will see firsthand how we turn the collected sap into our delicious Appleton maple syrup! \nBe sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and boots or shoes that are appropriate for hiking in potentially wet and muddy spots or over uneven hilly terrain. All Maple Strolls are weather permitting and will last approximately 1 hour\, walking much of that time. We welcome all ages; however\, information is geared towards those 10 and up. Have smaller kids? Check out our family geared maple programming\, Maple in the Barnyard! \nSpace is limited for this event and pre-registration is strongly recommended. \nWe will have a food station open selling maple baked goods\, snacks and treats from 12-3pm by the sugar shack. Make sure to stop by! No pizza service will be available. The Farm Store is open 10am-4pm where you can buy our very own syrup. Make sure to stop by!
