SUMMARY:Rockport Celtic Festival: TRANSATLANTIC
DESCRIPTION:Maeve Gilchrist | Pine Tree Flyers | David Coffin | Jeremy Kittel | Liz Carroll | Rasa String Quartet | Hannah Read | Logan Coale \nJoin us for this year’s nautical adventure as we traverse the Atlantic Ocean from shore to shore. We present the firepower of the Pine Tree Flyers\, a quartet from Portland\, Maine that has sourced and reignited repertoire from the state of Maine. We welcome back local Sea Shanty star David Coffin as well as the Rasa String Quartet\, who will be collaborating with our artist in residence Jeremy Kittel\, as well as sharing some sea-themed repertoire from the Western Classical canon. Returning for a second night\, US-based Scottish fiddler and singer Hannah Read shares her take on a number of traditional songs of the sea with accompaniment by Maeve Gilchrist and bassist Logan Steele Coale. \nIn honorable memory of our founder Brian O’Donovan\, we have commissioned a new collaboration between internationally acclaimed Irish fiddler and composer Liz Carroll and the Rasa String Quartet. Brian founded this festival on the belief that Celtic Music should be utilized as a platform to connect with other cultures as a source of good in the world. As well as presenting world-class traditional Celtic music\, our festival is committed to creating space for the evolution of the genre. Tonight’s premiere of this new ocean-inspired composition will honor Brian and manifest what this festival is all about. Don’t miss this salty musical feast! \nFESTIVAL MUSICIANS\nMaeve Gilchrist\, harp | Jeremy Kittel (artist-in-residence) | Hannah Read Trio\, fiddle\, guitar\, singer | Väsen | Pine Tree Flyers | Katie McNally | Neil Pearlman | Darol Anger\, fiddle | Bruce Molsky\, guitar\, fiddle | David Coffin\, vocals | Madelyn Monaghan\, voice | Jeremy Kittel Trio | Joey Abarta\, Irish piper | Liz Carroll\, fiddle\, composer | Rasa String Quartet | Logan Coale\, double bass \nROCKPORT CELTIC FESTIVAL SCHEDULE \nWINDOW NOTICE: Due to the volume level of certain concerts\, the curtain may be closed over the window for acoustical purposes. All efforts will be made to keep the view available prior to the concert.

SUMMARY:Kevin Farley
DESCRIPTION:Born in Madison\, Wisconsin\, Kevin Farley studied at the famous Second City in Chicago. Not long after\, he appeared in films such as Black Sheep (with his brother Chris Farley) and The Waterboy with Adam Sandler. Soon after\, Farley landed a starring role as “Doug Linus” on MTV’s sitcom 2gether where he was met with rave reviews. \nFarley then went on to star with top billing in the feature films An American Carol and White Knight. Other films to his credit are Crowning Jules\, Frat Pack\, and Joe Dirt 2. His TV guest appearances have been on Hawaii Five-O\, Curb Your Enthusiasm\, Rules of Engagement\, The Neighbors\, Just Shoot Me\, United States of Tara\, to name a few. \nFarley moved behind the camera as co-writer and co-director of Hollywood & Wine\, which takes an irreverent look at an actress struggling in Hollywood. In addition\, Farley directed the comedy Paranormal Movie. The film pokes fun at the “found footage” horror\, a sub-genre popular with moviegoers today. To his credit\, and met with high praise in all the national reviews\, Farley co-executive produced the heartwarming “I Am Chris Farley”\, the first feature-length biographical documentary about his brother Chris\, the late comedy legend. \nPresently Farley is co-starring in F is for Family – a Netflix comedy series and in CMT’s new series Still the King. When Farley is not writing screenplays\, producing or directing\, or on set filming\, he regularly embraces the stage in stand-up comedy. Farley usually appears as the headline act nationwide in clubs such as The Laugh Factory\, The Comedy Store\, and The Improv\, but he has also opened for David Spade\, Chris Rock\, Norm MacDonald\, Jeff Ross\, Todd Glass\, Kevin Nealon\, and Jeff Richards. Along the lines of stand-up comedy\, Farley starred in a New York musical about comedians called; HA! The Musical. \nFarley has hosted many live shows and has been featured on The Today Show\, The View\, Extra\, Fox News\, and countless radio shows. Farley resides in Los Angeles\, California and he is involved with the non-profit organization The American Irish Fund. \nKevin Farley has truly established himself as a comedic presence both on the big screen and off. Multi-tasking as a comedian\, actor\, writer\, director\, and producer seems easy for Farley because he does it all\, with a fabulous sense of humor.

SUMMARY:Jeffrey Foucault
DESCRIPTION:9/14/24\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required. 7:00pm Doors\, 8:00pm Show\nReserved floor and rail seating and Partial G.A Standing. $35-$25 \nErik Koskinen will open the show. \nIn two decades on the road Jeffrey Foucault has become one of the most distinctive voices in American music\, refining a sound instantly recognizable for its simplicity and emotional power. With a string of critically acclaimed studio albums – “Stark\, literate songs that are as wide open as the landscape of his native Midwest” (The New Yorker)\, “Beat-up troubadour folk whittled to dolorous perfection” (Uncut)\, “Songwriting Brilliance\,” (Irish Times) – he’s built a brick-and-mortar international touring career and a devoted following\, one that includes luminaries like Van Dyke Parks\, Greil Marcus\, and Don Henley. \nIn September of 2024 Jeffrey Foucault will release THE UNIVERSAL FIRE (Fluff & Gravy\, 9/6/24)\, his first album of entirely new material since 2018. A series of high-voltage performances cut live in one room\, the album is both a working wake – Foucault lost his best friend and drummer Billy Conway\, to cancer in 2021 – and a meditation on the nature of beauty\, artifact\, and loss. \nAugmenting Foucault’s all-star band with members of Calexico and Bon Iver (drummer John Convertino and producer/saxophonist Mike Lewis) THE UNIVERSAL FIRE sets Conway’s death against the massive 2008 fire at the Universal Studios lot in California that destroyed the master recordings of some of our bedrock American music\, to interrogate ideas about mortality\, legacy\, meaning\, and calling.

SUMMARY:Rockport Celtic Festival: FROM THE GROUND UP
DESCRIPTION:Maeve Gilchrist | Madelyn Monaghan | Jeremy Kittel | Hannah Read | Darol Anger | Bruce Molsky \nIn tonight’s wonderfully eclectic program\, we hear a selection of music that spans the breadth of Celtic and Celtic-adjacent music from its most traditional form to the most cutting edge! We start the evening with the stunning solo Sean Nós voice of Madelyn Monaghan before shifting gears to the rip-roaring virtuosity of fiddle virtuoso Jeremy Kittel and his incredible trio. We’re also thrilled to present US-based Scottish fiddler Hannah Read’s new project “The Fungi Sessions” in which she presents an ecologically-inspired suite of fiddle and banjo music with accompanying visuals to immerse us all in the world of the underground mycelium networks. Rounding the evening off are American music icons Darol Anger and Bruce Molsky bringing together their respective experience in Old Time\, jazz and bluegrass music. Prepare to be transported! \nPlease Note: For some non-classical concerts\, the window behind the stage may need to be covered for acoustical purposes. We do not always know which artists will need the window closed\, but at a certain level of amplification\, it is necessary.

SUMMARY:Rockport Celtic Festival: OPENING NIGHT: WESTBOUND FROM SWEDEN
DESCRIPTION:This night celebrates polskas\, polkas and everything in between as we highlight the strong connections between our Swedish neighbors and their lasting impact on American culture and music. Few musicians alive today hold such influence over the Global acoustic music scene as Swedish folk group Väsen. Joining them are influential American instrumentalist duo Bruce Molsky and Darol Anger and Boston-based Uilleann piper\, Joey Abarta. \nCurrently touring as a duo\, their nuanced arrangements and tight ensemble playing have touched every corner of the contemporary music scene from bands such as Crooked Still to Snarky Puppy. Don’t miss the opportunity to see these guys live! Also featured on this concert are American folk music idols Darol Anger and Bruce Molsky\, who bring their respective musical backgrounds in Old Time and bluegrass that have inspired a whole new generation of American folk musicians. Holding down the polkas this evening is internationally acclaimed\, Boston-based uilleann piper Joey Abarta\, celebrating the release of his latest album King of the Blind featuring historic Irish harp and pipe repertoire and the iconic beauty of solo pipes. Don’t miss this musical feast bringing together the best of the old and the new across Western folk music today. \nPlease Note: For some non-classical concerts\, the window behind the stage may need to be covered for acoustical purposes. We do not always know which artists will need the window closed\, but at a certain level of amplification\, it is necessary.

SUMMARY:The Infinite Moment of Now
DESCRIPTION:A New Comedic Play About Girlhood and Female Freindships \nThe vibrant new play explores the fierceness\, fragility\, and sometimes fanciful nature of female friendship and how the dynamic bond of three friends evolves over a decade. Eager to find a solution\, the friends share private information and quickly realize their connections are not as strong as they appear on surface level. Fast forward to leaving for college\, the friends make promises to stay in touch despite being thousands of miles apart. Then\, a decade later\, they reconnect after a shocking event and are faced with a choice: do they want to hold on to their friendship or move on? “Girl code” gets broken\, secrets are revealed\, and the fountain proves to be more powerful and magical than anyone could have predicted.
