SUMMARY:Artist Demonstration: John Caggiano
DESCRIPTION:Come see one of our local artists in his element as he paints and educates the public about his process. Bring a friend and your appetite\, as the Parlor Bar will be open to the public. Reservations can be made on RESY. \nJohn Caggiano is a painter who specializes in bright and colorful “impressionistic-realism”. In addition to a brush\, he uses a palate knife to bring life to his work. He has had a studio on Bearskin Neck since 1981\, and has been featured in local print\, as well as television\, and radio. \n“Painting for me is the bold and dynamic use of color that infuses life into the subject of the painting. Color is the lifeblood of the painting. Nothing stimulates more than its pleasing harmony\, whether strongly applied or toned and tranquil.” – John Caggiano \nIn partnership with Rockport Art Association.

SUMMARY:19-Piece Compaq Big Band w/ Vocalist Bella Holtz at *FREE* Concert in Stage Fort Park
DESCRIPTION:Halfway into a busy Summer 2024 season\, on Sunday July 28th the Compaq Big Band returns to one *THE* best outdoor concert spots anywhere – the Antonio F. Gentile Bandstand Summer Concert Series at Stage Fort Park\, overlooking spectacular Gloucester Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean! \nThe show runs 6:30pm-8:00pm and admission is *FREE* – just bring a blanket and/or lawn chair. The bandstand is located at 24 Hough Avenue and has plenty of free parking. We’ve had magical nights on this stage over the years\, with some audiences numbering up to several hundred\, and many saving their blanket/chair real estate beginning late-afternoon. \nThis performance is weather permitting. In the event of rain\, the alternate concert date is Wednesday July 31st at the same location and time. If it rains both Sunday and Wednesday\, there is no alternate date scheduled. \nFronting the band at this stunning venue will be Bella Holtz\, on her second long-term long term stint with us\, channelin’ Ella Fitzgerald\, Natalie Cole\, and more. We’ll also be hittin’ the audience with some of our best instrumental arrangements\, too. Think Bill Holman\, Sammy Nestico\, Chris Walden\, plus perhaps another surprise or two \nAs always\, profuse thanks to David L. Benjamin Music\, organizer of the @Antonio F. Gentile Bandstand Summer Concert Series\, and a tireless supporter of performers from all music genres on Cape Ann and the North Shore. \nCheck out www.compaqbigband.com. ‘Like’ the band and ‘David L. Benjamin Music’ on Facebook. \nAs is the case wherever we go\, the band will have our professional\, state-of-the-art traveling sound system\, operated by our very experienced\, full-time sound engineer. That means you’ll hear Bella\, all the instrumental soloists\, and the entire ensemble\, clearly. All of this brought together with the band’s passion for production excellence. \nCape Ann is such a cool little corner of Massachusetts. If you can\, make at least an afternoon and evening of it. Take in a great beach in Gloucester or nearby Manchester-by-the-Sea or Ipswich. Lots of great choices for libation and sustenance – just to name-drop some favs close to the concert: eat-in-rough lobsta at Woodman’s in Essex\, cocktails on the deck of the Beauport Hotel Gloucester right across the harbor from Stage Fort Park\, and Tonno in downtown Glosta – plus LOTS more!

SUMMARY:The Rock and Roll Playhouse plays
DESCRIPTION:07/28/24\nG.A. Standing 11:00am doors / 12:00pm show\nAll Ages\, $17 ADV/$20 DOS (children under 1 free) \nThe Rock and Roll Playhouse\, a family concert series hosted at historic music venues across the country\, allows kids to “move\, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (NY Times). Performing songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history\, The Rock and Roll Playhouse band offers its core audience of families with children age ten and under games\, movement\, stories and an opportunity to rock out in an effort to educate children and explore their creativity. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is an early and often first introduction to a child’s lifelong journey with live music and rock and roll. This children’s concert is not associated with or endorsed by the artist. See you at the show! \nThis concert for kids and families shares the music of the artist named above with a new generation of music lovers\, but is not associated with or endorsed by the artist. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.\nThe Rock and Roll Playhouse knows that little ears are sensitive\, so we turn down the volume at our shows. However\, all kids experience music differently and you may find that your child is more comfortable wearing hearing protection earmuffs\, such as Baby Banz\, which are available for purchase here. \nBy attending this event\, I consent to my image (with or without my voice) being included in photographs and/or film and videotape of the event\, and give the venue\, The Rock and Roll Playhouse and their respective licensees and assigns the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to use and publish such content in any and all media\, whether now known or hereafter developed.

SUMMARY:Butcher\, Baglio\, & Estes
DESCRIPTION:Jon Butcher\, Sal Baglio & Allen Estes. Three veteran musicians and familiar names from the Boston music scene. Their debut album\, GYPSY CARAVAN is 11 new electric and acoustic stories steeped in the blues and Americana. \n“We’re blue collar guys from working class families. We grew up on the sound of rock radio and the promise of an electric guitar. “ \nGYPSY CARAVAN covers a lot of ground\, just as CS&N’s debut album did back in the day. The album is the product of three long time friends who came together on a travelogue of blues\, roots and more. And it rocks!” \nYes it does.

OffBeat named him the Crescent City’s Best Guitarist for the third year in a row\, and the Best Songwriter for the second straight year. SUMMARY:Being Petty - THE Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Experience
DESCRIPTION:What would it be like if Tom Petty was still with us\, performing with the Heartbreakers to this day? \nNow the fantasy comes to life\, with Being Petty – the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Experience. \nIn early 2021\, Bruce Hilton and Larry Ladrie embarked on a mission to create the ultimate Tom Petty tribute band\, dedicated to sharing all the excitement and emotion of a live performance from the original band. The result is an assemblage of massively talented musicians/performers with a passion for the music\, and the skills to pull it off. \nAfter their FIRST PERFORMANCE\, they were invited to participate in the Legends Tribute show at the 8\,000 seat Bank of NH Pavilion alongside some of the best tribute bands in the country. \nBeing Petty is more than just the average cover or tribute band. Audiences are awestruck by the flawless recreation of the look (accurate wardrobe\, wigs and accessories)\, sound (authentic guitars\, amps and drums) and feel of the original band. The live show now includes multimedia for a truly huge concert experience. \nThe Being Petty song list covers all phases of Tom Petty’s incredible musical legacy\, including all of the hit songs from the 1970’s through the 2010s\, plus some surprise “deep cuts” for the true fans! \nAt every show\, during every song\, Being Petty is committed to respecting the fans\, and honoring the musical and cultural legacy of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

SUMMARY:JANE MONHEIT
DESCRIPTION:“a voice of phenomenal beauty”\n–The New York Times \nA vocalist with remarkable virtuosity and innate interpretative skills\, Jane Monheit puts her own unique touch on beloved jazz standards\, classic torch songs and contemporary pop. The two-time Grammy nominee and runner up of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Vocal Competition will be touring in support of her most recent release of American Songbook and jazz standards\, 2021’s Come What May. \nMonheit grew up on Long Island amongst a family of musicians. She made her professional singing debut while still in high school before enrolling in the Manhattan School of Music. During this time\, Monheit was thrust into the public eye with a 2nd place finish at the highly prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute’s vocal competition. \nTwo years later\, at the age of 22\, she released her debut record Never Never Land that boasted appearances from jazz legends like Kenny Barron\, Ron Carter\, Bucky Pizzarelli and others. Her follow-up\, 2001’s Come Dream with Me\, debuted at number 1 on the Billboard jazz charts. She has since released nine more records\, including 2013’s critically-acclaimed The Heart of the Matter\, and her most recent\, 2021’s Come What May. She has also appeared on the albums of many other artists over the years\, including Terence Blanchard\, Tom Harrell\, Freddy Cole\, Mark O’Connor\, David Benoit\, and Ivan Lins. Monheit has been nominated for two Grammy’s and has toured the world’s finest jazz halls with her trio. \nPlease Note: For some non-classical concerts\, the window behind the stage may need to be covered for acoustical purposes. We do not always know which artists will need the window closed\, but at a certain level of amplification\, it is necessary.
