Join us at the opening reception on July 26th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. to celebrate our community and community arts!\nTo ensure a diverse range of artwork reflecting the variety of Newburyport life\, this show offers a plethora of perspectives\, media\, genres and disciplines\, from representational to abstract work and large scale painting to small artisan pieces. SUMMARY:Hayley Reardon
DESCRIPTION:Hayley Reardon is a critically acclaimed folk-pop singer and songwriter\, and a storyteller in the truest sense of the word. Raised in a coastal Massachusetts town north of Boston\, Reardon dove head first into music at the young age of 15\, and has dedicated nearly half of her life to writing\, recording and performing music around the world. The artist’s songs have been featured on multiple Spotify editorial playlists and Apple Music playlists\, with over 7 million streams on Apple Music alone. She has shared the stage with renowned artists including Lori McKenna\, Rodney Crowell and Anaïs Mitchell\, among others. \nReardon’s creative journey thus far has been distinctly international. Carrying her songs and stories all over the globe\, she has performed hundreds upon hundreds of shows in over 13 countries – gathering experiences\, inspiration and soulful connections. Reardon’s travels include a six-month artist-in-residency stay in Dachau\, Germany in 2021. Her ever-deepening music carries a lyrical and melodic weight beyond her years\, being described as “brilliantly moving folk/pop with a lyrical depth and soul” (Performer Magazine) and “a melancholy little masterpiece” (American Songwriter Magazine). No Depression writes “Reardon is truly a treasure.” \nThe past year has been one of artistic abundance and growth for Reardon. Her EP\, Changes\, which was recorded in Barcelona with renowned Spanish guitarist Pau Figueres as producer and collaborator\, released in July 2023. The title track features an original bilingual duet with Catalan sensation Judit Neddermann\, with whom Reardon formed a deep musical bond during her time in Spain and who appears on the EP courtesy of Universal Music Spain. Along with her own releases\, Reardon co-wrote and sings on Seth Glier’s haunting new single My Body Remembers. She was also nominated as 2023 Vocalist of the Year by the Boston Music Awards. \nAt the start of 2024\, Reardon released her first live concert album\, “Live at Starseed Studios”. The project features 13 tracks from Reardon’s songbook with special acoustic arrangements by Pau Figueres on flamenco guitar and Arnau Figueres on bass. Reardon also recently returned to Spain to record new music with the Figueres brothers at The Sound of Wood studio near Barcelona. According to Reardon\, her upcoming seven-song project\, to be released in August 2024\, takes a more organic approach with vocals and instrumentation tracked live with a five-piece band. Her extensive travels\, recent move back to the States\, and regrounding in a place close to her roots has given the songwriter much to contemplate. In “The Way I Am”\, an upcoming single from the project\, Reardon reflects\, “I needed all this space just to feel the ache that has always been under everything.” These new songs explore uncharted emotional depths for an artist who is already known for her capacity to access tenderness.

DESCRIPTION:Know before you go\nVirtual event hosted on Zoom \nFree \nThis event series is a part of PEM Reads. \nContent warning: This book depicts violence\, gore\, animal killing\, cannibalism\, racism\, xenophobia and death. \nJoin us on select Wednesday evenings over Zoom for an amazing\, year-long PEM Reads journey through Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick! Set sail with Dan Lipcan\, the Ann C. Pingree Director of the Phillips Library and curator of our current exhibition Draw Me Ishmael: The Book Arts of Moby Dick\, and David Snider\, Director of Learning and Community Engagement. \nEach session of our voyage will feature a brief special presentation by Dan on the day’s reading and its connections to the exhibition\, followed by a lively discussion facilitated by David. By June 18\, 2025\, we will finish the book together\, exhausted but invigorated with new perspectives on this classic tale — and with the bragging rights that we have completed a Moby-Dick marathon! Participants who complete the book and attend all five sessions will win a special Moby-Dick-related prize from PEM. Required. $36-$42 \nBy the time Duane Betts began working on Wild & Precious Life — his triumphant debut solo album — he’d already spent the better part of two decades creating his own version of guitar-slinging\, story-driven American rock & roll. \n“It felt like the right time to make something that was entirely my own vision\,” he says. “This is a record that guitar players will love\, but at its core\, it’s really a song record. It’s an album about who I am\, where I come from\, and what I believe in.” \nDuane had spent 10 years playing guitar alongside his father\, legendary Allman Brother Dickey Betts. He’d release an EP\, Sketches of American Music and co-found Allman Betts Band. \nEven so\, the need to create a full-length solo LP gnawed at him; one that nodded to his roots while simultaneously pushing ahead. Following his instincts\, Duane assembled Johnny Stachela\, Berry Duane Oakley\, John Ginty and Tyler Greenwell\, and took up an offer from friends Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks to record at their Swamp Raga Studio in Jacksonville. The album was cut to 2-inch analog tape during a series of live studio performances in 2022.

Make sure to bring your suit if you want to take a dip in the pool or hot tub! \nWe are also offering VIP Premium Lounge Tables right on the Harbor View side of the Rooftop – these premium tables for four people include a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label (inclusive of gratuity and tax) so that you can start the evening off celebrating with bubbles!\n_ __\nGeneral Admission starts at $30 and does not include food and beverage. \nVIP Premium Lounge Tables are $300 and include a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label (inclusive of tax and gratuity)\, entry and premium seating for four people. \nTickets are non-refundable. Required $15-25 \nThe Gravel Project\nOriginally created by Andrew Gravel (vocals\, guitar)\, The Gravel Project is an all star band of Boston music veterans including brother\, Jordan Gravel (organ\, keys)\, Dave Fox (drums)\, and Eguie Castrillo (percussion). The Gravel Project’s live show blends rock\, world music and jazz with power and soul. Carrying the tradition of 70’s blues and psychedelic rock music\, The Gravel Project embodies the spirit of Santana combined with the classic raw energy and moving songwriting of The Allman Brothers and Tedeschi Trucks Band. With three studio albums\, a live album and countless past performances\, the future is bright for Boston’s The Gravel Project\, and as the title of their 2022 studio album suggests\, there are “Many Miles Ahead.” \nWood and Bone\nWood & Bone is an American Roots band originating from Salem MA. Led by singer/songwriter Jesse Joseph (aka Qwill)\, the band’s sound is an ever-changing blend of harmony-driven Indie tinged Folk\, Americana\, Soul\, and Blues. In the spirit of bands like The Grateful Dead\, each Wood & Bone performance is a unique experience\, with improvisation and experimentation skillfully layered upon solid songwriting and vocal harmonies. \nThe band’s primary members are Joe Wilkins; (vocals\, guitar\, mandolin)\, Dennis Monagle; (vocal\, drums) Joe Cardoza; (bass). The Band released the 3 song EP\, Rising Smoke in 2021\, and is currently in the studio working on a full length album as well as performing around the Northeast and beyond. \nHDRNB\nHDRnB is an original R&B/soul/groove band founded by in late 2010\, featuring Henley Douglas Jr. (sax)\, John Iltis (drums)\, Charlie O’Neal (guitar)\, Peter Fedele (guitar) and Brandon Tarricone (guitar) Squantch (trombone)\, David Walker (bass). The band features Garret Savluk (trumpet) and Yahuba (percussion) on special shows. Henley Douglas Jr.’s early career includes stints with the Big Dig Saxophone Quartet and Skin\, a Boston-based funk-rock outfit that would open for acts like the Neville Brothers and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He founded the Heavy Metal Horns\, a band that reached international acclaim in the 90s\, and for 10 years\, fronted the Boston Horns\, a funk/jazz band also featuring HMH alum Garret Savluk. A new CD of original music is on the way.
