SUMMARY:Galvin Cello Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Following their spectacular 2025 Festival appearance\, the Galvin Cello Quartet returns for an encore performance\, bringing vibrant international energy and bold artistry to the stage. Prizewinners at the Fischoff and Victor Elmaleh Competitions\, the ensemble is praised for its glorious sound and for redefining the cello quartet as a dynamic force in chamber music. \n“The Quartet’s cellists are brilliant instrumentalists and thoughtful musicians individually\, but their renditions as a group are glorious.” -Arnold Steinhardt (Guarneri Quartet) \nPraised as a quartet whose “cellists are brilliant instrumentalists and thoughtful musicians individually\, but their renditions as a group are glorious\,” (Arnold Steinhardt\, Guarneri String Quartet) the Galvin Cello Quartet burst onto the scene after capturing the Silver Medal at the 2021 Fischoff Competition. Riding on the momentum of their Fischoff success\, Galvin went on to win the 2022 Victor Elmaleh Competition and joined the Concert Artists Guild roster. With members from Brazil\, South Korea\, and the United States\, the Quartet takes its name from the Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music\, where three of its members – Sydney Lee\, Haddon Kay\, and Luiz Fernando Venturelli – met as students in the studio of acclaimed pedagogue Hans Jørgen Jensen. In June of 2024\, the Quartet welcomed James Baik\, another former student of Jensen\, as their newest member. \nWith their untamable desire to create\, change\, and ultimately bring joy through music\, the Galvin Cello Quartet is incredibly excited to make the undeniable case that the cello quartet belongs at the center of the expressive lexicon for chamber music alongside other traditional forms. The group’s vibrant international spirit reflects its artistic mission to bring together new works from diverse cultural backgrounds and dazzle audiences with the cello’s limitless capabilities. Each a true virtuoso with a distinct voice\, the members of the Galvin Cello Quartet are able to authentically occupy a wide array of styles\, colors and moods\, as well as shifting roles within given arrangements. Recent highlights include performances and educational residencies at Rockport Music Festival\, Bravo! Vail\, Ravinia\, Ascent International Cello Festival\, Merkin Hall\, and a reappearance at Newport Classical.

SUMMARY:The American Revolution: A story of the War in 28 Paintings
DESCRIPTION:1776 was more than a turning point; it marked the birth of a new world order. The exhibit will be on display at the Cabot House from September 6\, 2025 to July 4\, 2026. Tickets are free and open to the public

SUMMARY:LET GO An Exhibition Featuring Benjamin Herbert\, Kathleen Gerdon Archer\, and Janice Colby
DESCRIPTION:LET GO\nAn Exhibition Featuring Benjamin Herbert\, Kathleen Gerdon Archer\, and Janice Colby \nCove Gallery\, 37 Rocky Neck Avenue\, Gloucester\nExhibition Dates: June 25-July 19\nOpening Reception: July 2 from 5-8PM\nwww.rockyneckartcolony.org \nGloucester\, MA LET GO is a group exhibition bringing together the work of painters Benjamin Herbert\, Kathleen Gerdon Archer\, and Janice Colby in an exploration of discovery\, transformation\, intuition\, and experimentation. Through both abstraction and representation\, the exhibition examines what it means to release certainty and move beyond familiar boundaries — emotionally\, materially\, and conceptually. \nThe exhibition invites viewers into spaces shaped by memory\, landscape\, identity\, atmosphere\, and process. Each artist approaches painting as a form of exploration\, embracing openness\, vulnerability\, and the unexpected as essential parts of creative practice. Together\, the works reflect a shared interest in the freedom that can emerge when control is loosened\, and intuition takes hold. \nBenjamin Herbert’s paintings explore color as a dynamic and immersive material\, examining its ability to shape atmosphere\, perception\, and surrounding space. Leaning into abstraction\, his works create immersive emotional landscapes that invite contemplation and encourage viewers to slow down within an increasingly fragmented\, image-saturated culture. \nKathleen Gerdon Archer’s work explores color\, gesture\, and emotional landscape through layered compositions that reflect her continued interest in the natural world and what is left behind. Incorporating hidden birds in movement and migration\, her paintings evoke memory\, transition\, and quiet connection\, balancing sensitivity\, motion\, and reflection through an intuitive process. \nJanice Colby’s paintings are infused with emotion\, warmth\, beauty\, happiness\, and playfulness — positive human emotions that she describes as “a balm for the soul.” Colby’s paintings invite viewers into moments of delight\, curiosity\, and emotional connection. \nTogether\, LET GO offers a contemplative experience that encourages viewers to embrace uncertainty\, imagination\, and new ways of seeing. \nThe Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC)\, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization\, nurtures excellence in the arts through exhibitions\, workshops\, residencies and vibrant cultural events for its members and the public. On picturesque Rocky Neck in Gloucester\, Massachusetts\, RNAC operates three exhibition spaces\, open to the public for free\, The Cultural Center at Rocky Neck (6 Wonson Street); The Salted Cod Arthouse (53 Rocky Neck Ave.)\, a partnership gallery and café; and Cove Gallery (37 Rocky Neck Ave.)\, open seasonally in the former gallery of local artists Gordon and Judith Goetemann.
